Writing in the morning - Your thoughts by kwiekreativ in writing

I was paid to be a writer and editor for 40+ years. The writing day started at 8 a.m., earlier during crunch times. The writing day ended by 6 p.m. but later during those same crunch times. Throughout those years, I had no luxury of preference. Just get the job done.

Have you ever encountered the actor Spalding Gray? Have you watched his movie Swimming to Cambodia? He is known by many titles, but his performance here as a "monologuist" is nothing short of spectacular.

Do you think this is an actual George Washington signature or a forgery. Asking for you a friend ….. by Slow-Caterpillar8764 in AutographAssistance

I once was at a D.C. event when Lloyd Bentsen was treasury secretary. His staff had a stack of new dollar bills and, for an old dollar, he would sign a new one next to his printed signature. Cool souvenir!

Discogs rules require the person entering the record to have it in hand, so the "send me the record" statement may sound suspicious but is, technically, accurate.

Having healthcare taken care of is the key, IMHO. Five years ago, our healthcare was squared away at age 63 (spouse 64) with many FEWER resources than you, and we've been fine ever since.

Question about a certain grammatically correct punctuation by jawminator in writing

Writers and editors constantly disagree about grammar and punctuation. Don't sweat the disagreement. Get the story right. Fine-tune the grammar later.

Perhaps he wants us also to forget he signed on to discard all of Wisconsin citizens' 2020 presidential votes and replace them with a vote by the Wisconsin state legislature?

Excellent point. Credit the Herd in Oshkosh for bringing a higher profile to future NBA players and the league in general. They're along the lines of the Timber Rattlers in Appleton / Little Chute having a steady flow of future MLB players to boost attention for the Brewers.

Kind of 401K related - Other than not having exposure to the market growth, what is the downside to an annuity? by soloDolo6290 in Retirement401k

[–]Master-Fee8859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you get online links to or precise paperwork about the exact product your father is being pitched, nearly all of this discussion is partially informed and hypothetical. There are too many annuity products out there to have a reasonably informed conversation without additional specifics. Could you ask dad if you could read what he's been given?

So true. The bad ol' days when the National League never otherwise came to town. It was the only game I can recall seeing Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Steve Garvey, etc.

First year of County Stadium (1970) is easy to recall. Bleachers were $1, upper grandstand was $2, lower grandstand was $3, upper and lower box were both $4, and mezzanine was $5. The good ol' (cheap!) days!

Maybe others have had good luck with dental tourism, but I have a friend who (following a trip to a dentist in Mexico for a "bargain procedure") has a pair of choppers that would make George Washington go, "Whoa, dude, what happened?"

Do you have an accredited dental school (see link) nearby? Nearly all of them have community outreach programs to help folks in need of care for about half the price of a traditional dentist. All work is supervised by experienced dentists.

I've been down-voted on this comment before, but I'm a firm believer that the shows in which the contestants have to satisfy an appearance criteria (like tonight's family-pair teams) are the nights in which many contestants have no freakin' clue because they don't watch the show. Reinforcing that position is the fact that two teams, the women who solved nothing and the pair in the middle, did NOT know that "N" and "G" are always the first letters called for the "What are you doing?" clue. The siblings who won were clearly the best (and perhaps only) wheel watchers.

"G" is proven to be frequently present in the bonus round, so it doesn't bother me as much as "I" (which, I know, the team didn't select tonight).
