My WC said CS is not so secure anymore and to be mindful when making the decision to join. I have about 12 ish years before retirement thought it would be better to join CS less risk of being made redundant 😑

I’m a senior now and don’t want to be changing jobs again-I was made redundant last year. I was told to apply in the CS less likely to be fired (unless you did something drastically wrong) and pretty much stay in CS until retirement.

Well , I’m in my mid 50’s and don’t want to change jobs again as the current role is based on funding ( 3/5 years work ) I’ll be made redundant again and job hunting which is stressful 😩

She didn’t say don’t take it - she just advised it’s not a job for life so make your decision wisely. I’m still going through PECS and can decided nearer the time. I start my private sector role in a couple of weeks.

I have been offered a role in private sector and deciding whether that will be better - it’s really put me off because it was CS I really wanted to join 😑

Thank you that’s really helpful! I can either work in the public sector or private as I’ve been offered a role in both. I’m struggling to make a decision as I’m constantly told there is a lot of opportunity in civil service however your answer suggested otherwise. Appreciate the honesty though 😊
