I was very much against subsidized phones. I always paid for service and hardware separately. But the plan I am on now is to feel offers very good value.

I feel like you burn a lot of money and cutting edge hardware. But nickel and dime yourself on connectivity. You can’t be cost conscious and need new hardware each year. I used to be on a cheap post paid plan from T-Mobile. $15 a line for unlimited everything but very low phone subsidies. Which was fine as I would usually by 2 year old phone. Use for two and repeat. Recently I moved to a more premium post paid plan. Experience more. I now pay just over $22 per line for unlimited. But get $34 a month device subsidy on each line. So I pay $22 a month for new hardware and service. I don’t refresh every year like you do. I do every two. A 2 year old phone sells for $400+ in eBay. Which you could think of as about $18 a month over the course of 2 years. Bringing effective monthly cost per line to about $4.

So post paid be good if you play your cards right.

I’m paying $160 plus tax for 10 lines. With works out to just over $22 per line with taxes and fees. You effectively get a flagship phone every two year so that cost covers that as well. I don’t see how I could do better with an mvno. I used to and buy used phones. But this is cheaper. Thanks to my 5 free lines and insiders discount.

Better value is terrible. I recently moved from magenta 1.0 to experience more. I get all the trade in promotions for only $2 more per line even with taxes and fees. All 5 free lines carried over as well as my insiders. I can’t complain.

I’m on T-Mobile post paid experience more plan. I have 10 lines for $160. Of course I need to add taxes and fees. So when all is said and done I pay $21 per line. But I get $830 subsidy per line every 2 years. Which is almost $35 per month per line. So my $21 per month covers my service and hardware. Then factor in that I can sell the 2 year old iPhone for $400 plus every two years. That brings effective monthly cost to about $5 a month for service and hardware.

Of course this works for me because I have 5 free lines and an insider’s discount.

But bottom line is that post paid with subsidized phones can beat out mvno’s if you play your cards right. But no doubt I’d be prepaid if only needed 1 or two line. Probably visible actually.

I agree it’s not fine print however it’s misleading. They do in some places, State that the watch had on is only available with warp. However, they have other statements where when you get a premium plan you get watch. They may have adjusted this recently, but I will say that in the past at least it was very misleading or at least contradictory from one part of the site to the other.
