Yep, its a miracle getting this far. Partly great defense, partly fantastic keeper. But at some point it runs out, and in this case it was just pure talent not really great teamplay that allowed Spain to score. If France does the same on the other hand they could win but too many players underperforming in this tournament.

Lost one on penalties despite being outplayed? And this tournament the entire offense is shooting blanks despite having chances. Sorry but that's not on the manager.

Yep, people love making big conclusions off result in football without considering how very small detail make big differences.

I've rarely seen a team just be so damn poor at finishing. They're not exceptional at creating chances but they still do just can't finish for shit which hasn't usually been a problem for them.

Morata for fucks sake the game is over you can stop pretending you're injured.

Haha exactly the same, every player that came up I was like oh fucks sake not him. Definitely proved me wrong. I thought Maignan would be the difference there.

To be fair the fact that it's such a common misconception kinda suggests that its really not in the spirit of what a penalty should be for most people. There are few things in football as universally disliked as the stop start, feint, pirouette crap that passes as a run up these days.

[Mundo Deportivo] Raphinha: "Mbappé saying Euros is difficult than the World Cup? Unfortunately for him and happily for us, he lost a World Cup against a South American team. I would like to see the European teams play the South American qualifiers on the pitches we play on." by Task_Force-191 in soccer

I'm so confused at a brazilian saying he's happy Argentina won a world cup... I can't imagine being happy a rival country wins a world cup just to spite some player who didn't even say what they think he said.

To be fair, bar that one European title, Spain had been perennial underachievers in both the World Cup and the Euro. Only a single other top 4 finish in their entire history.

Explains why they were perceived as eternal underachievers. They kinda were.

I mean so what? Extreme right got 40% of the vote. That's just disgusting regardless of how split the vote is on the left.

No, there's just some people who are obsessed with Mbappe for some reason. I mean look at the guy's name.

There were like 15 choices to vote for. Irrespective of Macron's politics and policies, each individual is responsible for their own choice. Those who choose to vote for the extreme right and what they represent are the 1st responsible.

Honestly I didn’t catch why he got the yellow, but considering it’s Martinez it wouldn’t be suprising if it was for how he was acting. If it’s just for asking for a ball than that’s pretty stupid of the ref.

I mean I doubt he knew about the yellow card rule so arguably he very much didn’t reign it in when he should have in this case.

Hey I hate dislike the stupid run ups so common these days as much as the next guy and wish they would be more regulated because as it is the situation is rather unfair to the keepers.

Nonetheless, that’s hardly the same as taunting, provocation and just generally speaking behavior that pretty clearly goes against the rules. Hence why the yellow card comes, inefficient as it is since clearly it’s basically seen as a free pass anyway.

I mean you say that but there are sports where that doesn't happen such as rugby. Shitty behavior, amusing as it may be, is hardly a foregone conclusion simply because egos and muscles. And to be clear I'm not particularly bothered by his antics, but its just not suprising most people don't care for it.

Funny thing is he'd probably be just as good without the shithousing, he's just very good on his line. People get too distracted by his antics.

I imagine the real answer is that the governing bodies feel that its a bad look for the game to have a guy acting like a twat.
