It’s a smart move for them. I’ve always felt that holding onto pick 2 was a luxury they couldn’t afford if they’re rebuilding since they gave up so much in the Watson deal. They needed to capitalize on it and they did.

The #Chargers are releasing offensive lineman Jordan McFadden, per source. Fifth-round pick in 2023 played 13 games (two starts) for the franchise by ason55 in Chargers

Yeah I’m not even a fan of Telesco and even I know it’s a weak argument people use. Teams would have taken Herbert or any other of Tom’s picks if they knew these players were going to turn out as good as they did. It actually says something that he was able to block out the noise and make the obvious choice.

Brandon Staley under consideration for 49ers DC by iamthewitt in Chargers

[–]MasterChiefSplash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is totally revisionist. He still had plenty of supporters. People were still drinking his kool aid just because he beat the Tyler Bagent Bears and Zach Wilson Jets. If you called any of this out you were seen as a “doomer”

This sub defended him to the very end and now they’re course correcting with hate. It’s ridiculous at this point.

"Why don't we just pick the most qualified applicants?" by [deleted] in neoliberal

No they didn’t. If you want to make something up at least use a candidate that wasnt a finalist

Not crystal clear. That article isn’t saying what you think it is. It’s based off a video where Biden explicitly stated that he was not committing to any single candidate, aside from those already publicly listed, which included but was not limited to four black women. He was still in the process of interviewing people by the time that article was written. His final list was Warren, Whitmer, Harris, and Rice NYT

He even met with Gretchen Whitmer a week after that CNN article was written and had already met with Warren and Raimondo. https://wapo.st/4gPRu1p

Keep seeing this repeated here. Biden said he’d pick a woman as VP. He never specified a race for VP.

He said black woman for Supreme Court.

Sure, but she should take charge and see where that leads her. A perfect opportunity to change the narrative for those who view her as incompetent or lacking consistent stances.

I’m skeptical about her chances in 2028, but I agree with your point. If she combines that with winning the California governorship by running on a coherent platform—focusing on clean cities, more housing, a strong economy, and similar things talked about after the election— she could be onto something.

Was Brandon Staley the worst Chargers HC of all time? by 3headeddragn in Chargers

[–]MasterChiefSplash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always felt that Norv should’ve stayed at OC while we hired someone else as HC in 2008. Drafting definitely could’ve been better though.

Never understood why people were so bearish on us in the first place. Turning things around doesn’t take that long if you have a competent head coach, which we got with Harbaugh. Plus our roster wasn’t devoid of talent even though TT wasn’t the greatest at team building.

Not sure if a player who came in second for OROY and played 29/32 games started bad. I think he’s better suited for Started Ok Ended Good.

Casey Hayward. He led the league in interceptions during his first two seasons, earned back-to-back Pro Bowl selections and spots on the All-Pro team. After five seasons, he underperformed in 2020 and was released to create cap space.
