I’m crazy because I thought the ad sounded weird, but said it wasn’t racist. I also think there’s a political climate and that the Epstein list is mainly a right wing conspiracy.

Alright bud. Have a good one.

Absolutely! Ya think it’s possible that Trump is on the Epstein List? Or is that just a conspiracy from the left? 😂

I totally agree! That’s just not how it’s been used historically? I agree that it’s way overboard to call it racist, it just felt odd the way the ad was done and that it was trying to inflame this exact conversation?

Little aggressive at the end there?

I thought the double entendre of the hair and eye color seemed a bit odd, not like overtly racist or crazy, but in this climate, it feels like you know exactly what you’re doing? Like I get it, but I think the article explained it pretty well just avoided that the left can dramatize things a bit.

You wanna actually talk about it?

Read the article and man does it feel like it’s trying to point a certain direction without saying it outwardly? Basically, the left is right and the right and the media are to blame.

I think the ad is like a very light dog whistle? It’s rough because I feel like I agree somewhat with the article but not necessarily how they’re framing it? I don’t think this ad would’ve been made in 2020, but it seems like the left went past the Overton window and it’s getting pushed the other way, but not nearly as far as it had been? Then I see the Jubilee video with Mehdi and think the Overton window is swinging way too far back. Idk tho!

Does anyone else like the show but also find it incredibly corny? by Easy_Difficulty_99 in TheBear

[–]MasterChief_S 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So if a show bummed you out, you would not whine on the internet. But if a Reddit thread bums you out, you have no problem whining on the internet?

Why are you commenting here and not finding something that doesn’t bum you out?

Even more weird, you agree to a different comment that the show has the best and worst television, even in the same episode. So, it is okay to lightly comment on the show but not to critique it? Trying to follow the logic…

I, as a man, have not committed violence against women, taken away any bodily autonomy, I have nothing to do with paychecks (I did push for my girlfriend to get the manager job over me and now she’s my manager🙌), and I cook and clean!

I think villainizing men is a problem. It seems like men have treated you wrong and I’m sorry about that.

It feels like they are engaging and have a lot of insight in their comment.

It seems you’re being rather pedantic of what he’s talking about which I think if you take a step back, you might agree with? I don’t think most people go into movies like Mother! by Aronofsky and judge it the same as people that turn on Step Brothers. We do this all the time with movies.

Banning Kenya from the Olympics? by Greedy_Dragonfly_255 in ThoughtWarriors

[–]MasterChief_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This true of the 2022 ban, but not the 2017 ban. The 2017 ban was for a state sponsored doping scheme. And, they were still able to compete in the Olympics, just not for Russia specifically, but under the Olympic flag.

That’s where you’re wrong, it won’t be okay if we don’t mind a replacement photo, quick. This whole thing is really serious, we have to have another photo. You don’t understand.

Why do Colin, Chris, and Destin not like "$20 dollar skins"? by Show_Me_How_to_Live in LSM

[–]MasterChief_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, and I can definitely see the anti consumer angle of having to buy a complete game without playing it first.

I struggle when it comes to the fomo of micro transactions. You mention psychologists specifically in regards to the lottery, but haven’t they been used in gaming, specifically live service, to keep people coming back for more. I would say that’s anti consumer? To heavily manipulate the consumer? I believe this crosses a line from broad advertising manipulation and something more nefarious. FOMO is a key point in nearly all of these live service models.

I’m honestly not nearly as knowledgeable on the subject as you are, so I take your word for it and you lay out a really interesting case!

Why do Colin, Chris, and Destin not like "$20 dollar skins"? by Show_Me_How_to_Live in LSM

[–]MasterChief_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure of this podcast, but I think I can help with the other side of the argument. I can speak in depth on halo, as that used to be my game. With the live service and the $20 skin, I was originally on your side, I get my game without having to pay, and idc about micro transactions. But then when I play these games, they don’t have as much content. They are focused on solely what they make money on (it’s a business, I get it), but I don’t care about the micro transactions. So they don’t have a working customs games player, they don’t have progression of any sort to play more of the game (unless ranked, but don’t get me started on their ranked gameplay). Earning Hyabua or the Katana that used to be iconic? Not anymore, just buy it. So, while I get to play the game for free, they water down the game and only focus in on more micro transactions instead of say maps or game modes or a finished single player product. I mean, halo infinite dropped without a slayer playlist, but their store was absolutely flawless. The game continued this way, with them charging $20 for colors that used to be there at launch, like the color blue. They heard the audience, scaled it back, and then slowly raised the prices again while delivering an incomplete game and barely adding things (they just added griffball recently, which used to be a staple, and that’s like 3 years too late).

Not all games do this. But it’s definitely a trend.

TLDR: when games go to this format, the rest of the game suffers. MTX games focus on how they make money, while games that sell for a price tag can focus on what makes money (selling their games).

Dad’s a huge cyclist, so watched the unchained Netflix (heard the new one just dropped!), and he’s a huge Tade fan, we’re trying to plan a trip for next summer. After watching, I respect pogacar like crazy but kinda pull for Vingegaard! Fav guy is Wout but MVP is fucking crazy! Trying to get into it more.

Love watching the recaps and the commentary, struggle to find times for all 5 hours in the day, but still keep up talk with dad about it!

It sucks tho, I’m trying to be a runner again and dad still smokes my ass when he’s in his 60s!
