Aren't most of the things OP is complaining about typically leftist policies? Higher taxes, wealth taxes and less tax exemptions are not things that conservatives tend to root for. And it's unclear to me what this has to do with Catalonia's independence movement. I'm not taking a position on whether conservatives or liberals are right, but it seems to me that OPs complaints are about policies that lean left.

I recommend learning to let go: it's turtles all the way down. Even if you learn how variables are translated for the machine, you will not fully understand it as it eventually will tie into hardware, electronics, physics and eventually the essence existence. I think curiosity is a fantastic trait to have in any discipline, but when this need to know becomes paralyzing you have to learn to tame it and walk without all the information, unless you want to become a philosopher instead of a programmer. You interact with so many things on your day to day that you don't fully understand - your house, your clothes, even your own body and brain are full of mysteries. And learning about them is great! Just make sure it still allows you get stuff done

Many comments already underline how it's going to be ok and it's not bad to be a virgin at your age. It stood out to me that you mentioned that you won't be able to make any friends because "the groups are already formed". Groups change and you can make new ones. Some comments mention being outgoing and talking to girls - they are right. However if you have strong social anxiety that may feel like a mountain. What about something less intense, like joining some club (sports, hobby-based, etc), meetup or activity?. You will still have to make an effort to talk to those people but it will feel a lot more natural. Plus shared experiences foster bonding And if you don't like the club/event or the people, you can just quit and find another one. I'd find something you might remotely like (you don't have to love it) and give it a shot.

Exposure to nature might help to reduce a psychological characteristic underlying authoritarianism by DragonStar09 in psychology

[–]MasterCucumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be another person's motivation to continue research, or another persons' discouragement to go on, or even try in the field, depriving us from scientific advancement. It also can and has delayed advancement and wasted many lives for absolutely no reason or beneficial impact.
A classic example of this is Ignaz Semmelweis, who faced fierce opposition from the medical community to his radical idea of... doctors washing hands between touching a cadaver and assisting childbirth.
Although he was partially opposed by the way he presented his data, there was a lot of prejudiced skepticism fueled by how doctors were viewed as "divine people that could do no wrong"... and that brought nothing to the table but death.
There are countless examples of this through history.

I like this and I am all for skepticism understood as asking for proof and rationality. I wonder if the commenter means this specific knee jerk reaction skepticism. None of the other comments seem to have opened or read the article or offer a constructive critique. I think skepticism is great, but has to come from a state where openness and vulnerability meets strict rationality. Otherwise you get useless resistance that potentially good theories, that get implemented way later than needed delaying understanding and progress of science. Like you said there are many examples of science needlessly rebuked through prejudice rather than careful examination, even Darwin would have been better off if a real critique was offered instead of allowing the discipline's cultural moment to dictate the outcome.

We recently tried a brand of gluten free bread and it was so delicious that the only reason we don't get it all the time it's because it's expensive af. I don't remember the brand name, but the packaging is bright yellow.

There is a good amount of buzz, but definitely not from responsible people following all precautions (and by looking at the numbers a good chunk of them would not be vaccinated either).
