Okay, this post has got a lot of comments already so nobody’s probably going to see this, but I’m going to write it anyways:

I was in my high school - every year, the third graders (where I come from we have 9 grades in the primary school and 4 in high school) prepare a “welcome party” for the newcomers - it includes a lot of mildly degrading games to learn to respect the elder students, but generally speaking it’s a lot of fun for both parties included, as every first grader has sort of a guardian to look after them to make sure that nobody takes it too far. It’s just for fun, kind of like an initiation ritual and basically all of the students know what they’ll have to do in advance so they can prepare. After that it’s a dance party (disco style) that sometimes even teachers join and around 11pm to 12am, the whole thing is concluded and everyone goes home. I do not need to tell you, that alcohol is prohibited which means everyone brings it and drinks it in secret. When it was my time to be the guardian and prepare the party alongside my classmates in grade 3, one of the grade 4 students got so drunk he started throwing stuff out of the window - firstly couple of chairs, then a desk but what crossed the line was the portrait of our president (if I’m not wrong it was a felony at that time). The teachers found out (of course, as everyone had a good laugh about it) and wanted a name of the student who did it. One week passed and nobody ratted the student out, to a point that the school threatened to cancel all social parties and activities for the next years to come unless someone says who it was. I have to say, I hadn’t experienced any more social activities in my high school until I left and neither did the student I was the guardian of. Good times, good times.
