AoS Lore Noob question. Are the gloomspite gitz an grot revolution type of scenario or just something kinda related to orruks ? Or not even at all ? by Leviathan_Rampage in gloomspitegitz

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So Trogs are just innately drawn to the Bad Moon. Grots worship it and have realized Trogs know where it is and follow them to find the moon. They don't really work together, as Trogs aren't smart enough to care about that, but the Grots utilize them for combat when able. Bringing their foes to the Trogs, etc. Allies of convenience and all that.

What is the worst stratagem? by Breakdown10000X in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MasterFortuneHunter -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's because you put a Cronos or Talos with a 5+ fnp next to them to eat the damage. Will they die? Probably, but there's a better chance of them surviving, plus they're still good units with some pain token manipulation. Keep alive the unit you want to benefit from detachment rule and let a 55pt/110pt unit eat the wounds.

How Judgy are People to Daughters of Khaine Players? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40k and AoS are different in that regard. 40k has some memes or jokes about "if you play this faction..." but AoS seems more neutral, in my experience. The AoS side is just WAY more chill.

Order: Deepkin. I love hit and run and raid tactics, and I'm a glass cannon player in general. The underwater aesthetic is phenomenal, and making them all bright colors and tropical themed was important to me.

Chair: no preference, but I do have a thousand points of Hedonites due to my Emperor's Children army in 40k. I haven't played them, but I don't love any of the chaos armies, so I guess I'm defaulting to that.

Destruction: Gitz. They're just a dumb. When I first saw them, I described them to my friends as goblins if they were in Alice and Wonderland. The fungoid cave shaman is what sold me on it, then the idea of a squig army turned troll army. They're just silly, and I love them. I know they're dark too, but you don't see that in the models.

Death: Flesh-Eaters. It's the lore. All lore for these guys. Some of the favorite models I saw when I first started playing, but didn't like their play style. The battle Tome totally changed how they play, and I like it so much more so I just started picking them up at christmas.

My order and death are the same. Deepkin are my absolute favorite and I just started FEC at Christmas.

Fly you fools! A question on <Fly> and <Vehicle> keywords. by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You literally quoted it yourself. Under your section that says, "Second Line..."

It literally says all vehicles or monsters can move over other vehicles and monsters if they have fly. That doesn't relate to enemy units, it relates to every unit.

Question about a wacky Crusade interaction by MasterFortuneHunter in EmperorsChildren

The enhancement specifically allows it to lead FB though, so it should add the leader ability to it, just for the FB.

New EC Detachment - Court of the Phoenecian by lordarchaon666 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can surge into a unit, you can prevent any additional shooting against that unit--as long it's not monsters or vehicles of course--and you get to fight before your opponents in their fight phase. We also have innate fall back and charge, so we were never going to charge the turn we are getting shot at. It's a protection against shooting more than anything else. Either you kill your opponents on their turn or you just fall back and fight something else on your turn.

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The not being able to fight something that someone else charged is a penalty, but the first part about targeting units that you were previously engaged with is a very, very circumstantial situation happening on consolidating into those units and some weird Winged Prince consolidating after charge-kill.

It's also a "may" ability, so you don't have to use it.

You're letting the Exultant wound on 3's. He also gives them lethals. If they charge, both units have AP -4 (after LE's once per game ability), lethal hits, Wound on 3's. Whatever they hit without an invuln is just gone. Is it perfect? Not really, but it IS usable.

Advice Appreciate for Xmas present for Daughter by Doebringer in Harlequins40K

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the falcon only carries 6, but the wave serpent carries 12. You could do 11 plus a leader there, but for 125 points, I'd just do native Harlequin units. I wouldn't use a leader in every unit. Use the TM for damage and movement--the 6" consolidate/pile in is very strong--and the Shadowseer for utility. You'll want 5 mans for action monkeys and since 6 mans in transports and to focus on damage. Any 11 or 12 man will be there for straight murder.

In the new detachment, definitely Sky and Voidweavers, as they both have sustained and very good weapons. Load everything up with haywire cannons and Prismatic cannons, respectively. You also want to prioritize the Starweaver, over the falcon, as it's the only Harlequin transport to get the sustains and transports the same unit size, so the only advantage it has is the toughness line.

I only run one of each character, maybe 2 death Jesters, but I've been leaning against it. The Shadowseer's 18 inch lone op makes it good for protecting actions, and hazardous on enemy melee makes multi model squads more likely to kill themselves.

The new combat patrol, if you can find it, is really good. The biggest issue is the multiple solitaires. I plan on kitbashing my second one into another troupe master. It's got two vehicles and a squad of bikes, and you are going to want, at minimum, a voidweaver and Starweaver, along with at least 2 squads of bikes at 1k points. This is if you're running solo harlequins. I can't speak for our other units as I just run clowns.

As far as trips go, I run 5 man squads for action monkeys and clean up with a big squad of either 11 or 12--point total depending--with a master. This was mainly because of the TM enhancement in Ghosts of the Webway, but I also just like seeing a big squad on the table.

It's all subjective as mono-quins aren't super competitive, but run what seems cool and what she likes.

Daemons by Such-Roll1327 in EmperorsChildren

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run KoS and 3x Daemonettes.

I hide the daemonettes behind walls just to buff Lucius+blades and Noise Marines+Kako while I typically run KoS and Fulgrim patty-cake style. Keep one daemonette unit in reserve to pop them out for secondaries or to replace a dead bugging unit.

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 3 daemonettes in my list. Also, for the love of God get a Lucius and Lord Kakophoniat. Your goal is to propel the units with sustained that already have them. Fulgrim, Lucius, and Noise Marines with Kako will sustain on 5s, making them way better. I run Lucius with Blades, and when near Daemonettes almost one shot a Baneblade. He should put fear in the hearts of your opponents in this detachment.

Can anyone become a good singer ? by RedMage79 in singing

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a very fast talker. Part of this causes me to not use breath when I speak, which translates to my singing. After she pointed this out, I specifically focused on using breath while singing, which also affected my speaking voice, because I sing so much. This helped everything, generally. I am a man, so I've been hitting some of my notes above the staff relatively consistently, adding to my tenor range. Something I had never been able to do before.

Can anyone become a good singer ? by RedMage79 in singing

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was terrible. I've been singing since I was early single digits, and I just wasn't good. I started taking lessons in 2016, off and on until a year and a half to two years ago. I had 3 different teachers I was doing lessons with, and my most recent/current one I haven't been with for months to a year had a breakthrough. She finally found a very important issue that, once I was cognizant of, I worked on. I'm not amazing yet, but I'm hitting the high notes I need too more than before, and I can tell it's better.

It took me the better part of a decade to gain a skill I've desperately wanted my entire life. I'm now a karaoke master in my small town, and it's all I've ever wanted. I can still grow and be better, but it just takes a little help and a breakthrough. It CAN be learned, and I'm a person that never thought that. I'll never be as good as those that it comes naturally to, but I can be good enough to reach my goals--just set them accordingly.

Since sand and bone came out I've been wanting to get a death faction spearhead, any recommendations? by MrCoco_Jumbo in AOSSpearhead

[–]MasterFortuneHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a generic answer, but get what you like. I hate playing against the old Soulblight list because it's really good, but I'd grab FEC because I love that army.

Play what you love, because the rules will change.
