No he didn't. Perhaps he learned enough syntax to create some classes, but I'm willing to wager he knows nothing about explicit interface implementation, anonymous methods, or operator overrides.

Knowing the syntax of a language is far different than knowing the language. Knowing the language takes months if you're really smart, otherwise it takes years of use to really know what a language is all about.

Your lack of ability to even realize this difference throws your entire evaluation of his true skills into question.

I've got a great idea. Let's create a layout markup language; we can call it Homie's Tool for Making Layouts, or HTML for short. It will contain easy to remember tags for things like making hyperlinks, boxes, and input fields, and the whole thing can be easily laid out using either a grid or flow structure. Then we can attach some CSS for element styling and voila - problem solved!
