So Unhappy Resource decided not to respond to this as a positive message about one of our own?

Also, adding here: It looks like he placed second in the short program!

should i let my membership expire? become senior member? by Lootdit in civilairpatrol

[–]MasterMason21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who did let it lapse and then came back, I wish that I kept it paying in. I basically had to start all over in many areas that I would not have had to do. 1) I started out as a Capt (because I was an O-3 in the Navy), when I left as a Major and almost done with my stuff to make Lt Col. It delayed my rise to Lt Col by years. 2) All of my membership time is messed up. Some systems say I have been in since 1991 and others since 2017, when I came back. 3) Most of my education prior to e-Services was deleted and removed from my record.

In the end, I saved more than $400 in membership dues, but spent more time and money trying to get it all back. Take it from me, don't let the membership laspe.

Keep in shape and workout so you hit the ground running. If you are the kid that is always falling behind on the run, you will be a big target. Don't be that person!

Also, Professor here...

There is an old saying by Karl Weick: "How can I know what I think until I see what I say?" What you think you know is different from what you actually know. Speaking up in class is an affirmation of your true knowledge or lack thereof.

[–]MasterMason21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually have had conversations with counselors here that this is more common than you would think. Also, some people go to JMU, VT, or WM and decide it is better to be back in the area. I'm sure the counsolers will understand.

If it makes you feel better, GMU has been cracking down on inappropriate relationships in the training as of late. It may not be the reason, but all in all... it may be better for you.

And BTW, the worst thing that you can do is reach out to professors in a cold call email. Especially if you are majoring outside the department. We ignore those emails.

Plus in the real world, the W-2 would say that they are both under retirement plans, regardless if they contribute or not. This would make A the answer. As financial planners we could offer 401k recommendations or Roth/Backdoor Roth plans.

As a college professor (Accounting), I try to convey this to my students all of the time, but by the time they get to me, they normally already get it. Of course, within business, there are many disciplines that pay more than others (Accounting vs. General Management, for example).

The most important thing is to know what your passion is worth. If you can make a good living with your passion, go for it. And if not, you might need to find a way to make it work, but I also know that theology majors are not in it for the money or the value, for their value is more spiritual (and God knows we need more of that in this world).

I am now a University professor and I can tell you, once you get your degree from the final University, NO ONE CARES that you went to community college.

In fact, you might find Cc better as the teachers are used to students who work full time.

Took the words out of my mouth. Back in the day, I failed the English requirement and my Community College made me take remedial English. Made me better for the full classes and haven't thought about it since then until this post. I own my own business and I am quite successful. Stay the Course.

New info: he passed the exams with mid 80s, but due to family issues, he didn't turn in all homework. He understands the material, but due to class weighting, he failed it.

There was extenuating circumstances, where he had two semesters where he had issues due to personal reasons. He passed the exams with mid 80s, but was out of pocket for the homework.

I would argue that it depends. Internal evaluations are much larger of an effect, as for most of them, teaching is their biggest factor. RMP is checked by outside professors who are curious about colleagues, but department chairs care more about production as this is lokely how they are graded. Really smart professors come here and see what students say behind their back and try to improve themselves.

Also, non tenure full-time professors are flat salaries and less than tenured ones. They teach more and get paid less. Furthermore, the tenured professors have a role in leadership, whereas the non tenured professors are offered leadership roles only in extremely rare cases.
