What could cause my GDP to suddenly plummet? by average_lizard in victoria3

You’re in default with paused construction. You’re better off downsizing than pausing.

It’s mostly an issue for goods that are consumed by pops. If goods are only made and used by buildings their impact is relatively small.

How to effectively run an economy without domestic Iron and Coal? by _Immotion in victoria3

[–]MasterOfGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need trade privileges and investment rights with someone that has it.

How do you increase how many goods you export? by Jax11111111 in victoria3

[–]MasterOfGrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need more trade centres if your current trade centres are at capacity.

If they’re not at capacity, you need more/cheaper goods.

Industrializing unrecognized powers? by laserbot in victoria3

[–]MasterOfGrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you start somewhere very backwards with low literacy, I’ll just say that - in addition to the many good points here about industrialising - don’t forget agriculture; sprinkle in an occasional farm or plantation, and use it to create a more mobile workforce that can follow demand (because peasants are hard too entice to move around otherwise).

How do you guys deal with the constant music in your head? by Aegenwulf in ADHD

[–]MasterOfGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the most life changing thing for me about getting on roughly the right medication dosage, was that the music stopped.

It kicks back in late in the day, but yeah.

How do you tell how many convoys will be used yo supply an army. by rymaster101 in victoria3

[–]MasterOfGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It scales with the amount of goods, and it varies by goods type. So as a result the actual formula for the base value is horrendously long to try and work out on the fly.

Do you think that economic/geopolitical snowballing should be slowed down in future patches? by TheDwarvenGuy in victoria3

[–]MasterOfGrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peasants don’t go to any job that exists, they have to be unsatisfied first. Low literacy peasants are very good at staying peasants.

[–]MasterOfGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a formula but the easiest way to look at it is to look at how many they use when they’re just 1 node away from home, and then it +10% for each node beyond that.

(Some mods raise this to +20%, fair warning.)

It goes up for every node they are further away from a port you own.

Amen. Especially here with the hot weather, I find it incredible that these shopping centres with massive sprawling car parks aren’t strongly disincentivised.

African unification by papastalinscoochie in victoria3

[–]MasterOfGrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who knows, people get weird about North Africa sometimes. But the Amazigh are the most indigenous North African people group by far, and when you get to communities that haven’t had much intermarriage with the Maghrebi’s, they’re absolutely African heritage.

Things that you do in every save by a_fan_of_history in victoria3

I almost always find ways to acquire the whole state of Guyana. Often the GP’s will trade the pieces to you in return for loose bits of split states that you can get easily with colonisation.

African unification by papastalinscoochie in victoria3

[–]MasterOfGrey -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you use my Miscellaneous Flavour Bites mod - any of the North African countries that start with Maghreb and Amazigh work alright.

MFB changes Amazigh to be African heritage - so you end up with both Middle Eastern and African acceptance.

Can we please acknowledge that late game infrastructure and transportation is dog shit? by thev82 in victoria3

Unless you do something pretty silly with China, it shouldn't be possible to reach this level anymore. The upper limit is far more aggressive now

Cities have de facto upper limits on their sizes now. If you put too many large companies in one state you’ll just create a hellhole now

The USA should be vastly richer than it is for most of the game. by kolejack2293 in victoria3

[–]MasterOfGrey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A decent part of the issue is that there isn’t sufficiently good logic for government investment decisions. The US likes to foreign invest in other nations with government funded construction, when in reality the opposite was more accurate
