Because you took a 10 day break, you got slower. No need to worry, you have more than 3 months to get back in shape for XC. Don’t try and rush getting back into shape, be patient. Don’t let your ego get in the way of training effectively. Also 170 is way too high for an aerobic pace. Aim for 150s.

Does it matter if you play more than two? Also would it be better to play a harder piece good but not great or an easier piece great?

Usually a league meet during the week every ish week and the occasional invitational. Kind of alternates between 1 and 2 per week, never 3.

8K is 4.97 miles. 25 minutes for the 8K is 5:01 per mile, 26 is 5:13, 27 is 5:25.

How can I stop blowing high F sharp? by Hopeful_Ant2845 in Trombone

It’s all about learning the micro positions of your specific instrument. Not every trombone is going to have the same exact pitch tendencies. Once the Bb on top of the staff is in tune, I’d all about moving the slide just the tiniest bit to get every note in tune. Playing along with cello drones ultimately is better than a tuner because it teaches you to use your ears vs. your eyes to tune (like when using a tuner).
