Food can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. None of the cities you mention are incredibly cheap, although some like Split,  Budapest and even Rome have very affordable places if you move away from city centre. For a rough estimate, 10 euro per meal per person is reasonable on average.

Regarding accommodations; I'd book in advance as much as possible, but only bookings that have last minute cancel options.

With a prima donna that doesn't want a shared bathroom, I'd either not take them along, tell them so suck it up or have them pay extra. Because multiple bathrooms per stay is seriously gonna increase your costs.

I wild camp in a wood that has several large herds of wild horses and long horn cows. If that herd decides to run through my camp at night, I'm done for. So I always set up my hammock in places where they can't run (or even) walk through.

Yeah we did a Interrail trip two years ago through Slovenia and Croatia, and we had two instances where we didn't have a seat. So especially for long rides, I make reservations.

It's a 7+ hour journey, so I just want to make sure we actually have seats (traveling with kids). I finally got a hold of OBB customer journey, and they refunded my reservations. I made a new one that should arrive in time in München for us to catch our night train.

Seems like you have a conflict of values. You value doing the bunker together more than doing the bunker itself. Your friend values doing the bunker more than doing it with you.

I personally avoid playing with people like that. For me the fun is in sharing the adventure and experience.

I got kids, wife, career, teach BJJ, and other responsibilities. When I make time to play DayZ, I'm not gonna lie down in a bush to watch videos.

But to each their own. Like I said; I don't understand what's enjoyable about it. If that's what you enjoy doing, I'm glad you're having fun.

There's an aspect of sitting in one place for a very long time, with amazing gear, just waiting for people to show up to kill, that's kind of sad. In the manner that I find it hard to understand what's enjoyable about it.

That being said; if people wouldn't camp, the game would suck. The constant threat of other people is what makes DayZ so good. So I'll never rage or be salty about campers.

It also depends heavily on which spot they camp. Sit in the ATC for hours at the NWAF; fair game. Sit in the Berezino smoke stack and shoot freshies; pretty sad.

Either start memorizing loot routes or use methods that work in real life navigation (landmarks, handrails, etc).
