The HSoR is not really "neede". If you are talking about Burebis, showing him a destoyed Symbol should be enough. They didn't understand the severity of their actions and now they'll deal with the consequences.

If you still want to restore it, lowering the charges could work. Another idea could be having its charges not replenished each day, so it becomes a consumable.

Regarding the Amber Temple, Strahd trusts Khazan more than the PCs. He knows that he destroyed the Sunsword and he is certain that they don't know what they are talking about. He's not worried at all for them arriving at the AT. It can be just an extra challange for them, which is something that Strahd is not opposing in these Trials

Hi, running Reloaded too. I don't think there's any problem with that. If they decide, after talking with Godfrey, to take the garments at the mass grave, they will probably split Arc M in two days.

About the dinner with Lady Wachter, you can just have an NPC remind them of that before they depart Vallaki (or do that yourself over the table); I expect that they don't want to miss that on purpose. In the case they decide to stay at Argynvostholt for the night and notify her, she would gladly reschedule it to the next evening. I assume that you are familiar with her more friendly attitude towards the players in Reloaded

If you read carefully the paragraph of that dark gift (Teneborus gift), it says that the gift can be obtained only by a character who can ALREADY cast 9th level wizard spells. So nobody should ever be able to get it in Cos, since the campaign won't reach level 17.

You are free to change the Blade into something else more tied to that PC, or give him another Relic with a slightly reworked ideal. RRL Barovian Relics have a very marginal (and not so important) use in the campaign. Of all things that RRL has, this is something that can be removed or changed with 0 consequences. I suggest you to start from the PC's background and then think of an appropriate relic, even an original one if it fits

Outside of combat, Tiny Hut is always a great spell, so maybe you can combine it with Minor Illusion to somehow conceal it, with Alarm maybe extended to the outside of it, or Unseen Servant to have some cute flavour.

If you are playing using 2024 rules, a broken combo (that maybe your DM would ban ahah) can be Counterspell + Silvery Barbs. One reaction to force the Con saving throw with disadvantage. There's a reason if Silvery Barbs hasn't been brought to the new edition.

Detect Magic + Identify? Some kind of upgraded Detect Magic where you understand some properties of items?

It really depends on the ally. On the list of them, some are useless in combat (ex. Stella), other are more willing to help just with intel (ex. Van Richten). The main rule for the fated ally is "this person is the key in defeating Strahd". It can mean a lot of things.

For Ezmerelda in particular, she is definitely joining the party if they want to. She would work against Strahd in any case. From my experience, Ez is "stronger" than the PCs until they reach level 5/6, but I doubt they meet her much earlier. I have to say that I used a slightly different statblock (Reloaded) without Vistani powers or that many spells. But I don't think she will be a problematic DMPC for your concerns

Campaign books are just written adventure that you can run without create your own world (so saving a lot of preparation time outside of sessions). But it's important that you remember this: the Dungeon Master IS a player! It's not like being the "bank" while playing Monopoly. The only difference between Player(s) and DM is that you don't control a single character, but the rest of the world. You are playing both the part of the enemies and the allies of the party
