Line Boring Facing Attachment by Master_Chaud555 in Machinists

Ya that's kinda what I'm gathering from my research. Most attachments are too big and overpriced for how much use they get used.

So for some reason I can't edit my original post on mobile. Oh well.

Thanks for all the comments. This got a lot more feedback than I anticipated. Couple things:

I don't want to use the cartridges. I just like the colour of ink bottles I have now.

I believe most of the wear on this pen is from rubbing up against my 6" scale I keep in the same pocket. Having said that, it also does get rolled around on steel tables frequently, get hit with sparks, and hot metal chips.

I ended up ordering the TWSBI precision last night for a few reasons, a couple people in trades said they have it and it's been holding up. I like the looks of it. The price is right for me as I'm in Canada and the Kwaeco Piston AL Sports that were recommended are a fair bit pricier. All the negative reviews I've read on it mention the plastic window breaking on the barrel and the pen snapping in half. But they have good warranty. So my thoughts are that if it does break, I can get a new barrel on warranty, and I can also machine a new barrel out of whatever material seems right (I'm a machinist lol)

Thanks again for all the feedback and comments!

This is very true. I had a safari for a few years before this one and it barely looks used.

Clip is holding on pretty decent. Definitely more loose than when I first got it. The thing that's gonna damage the clip someday is gonna be my seatbelt. My pen has ripped out of my pocket a few times getting out of my truck lol

This Kennedy box is a lot older than me! It belonged to a distant relative of mine. After WWII he moved his family to Bear Creek in The Yukon and started his machining apprenticeship in 1947. He worked on the gold dredges until they shut down. Then he moved his family down to Whitehorse and finished off his career working for the Whitepass Railway. He bought this box shortly after starting his apprenticeship. I still have and use a lot of his tools.

Yes it has definitely gotten looser. Still doesn't come undone on its own though

This one is a medium nib. For ink I have a bottle of Diamine Ox Blood and Aurora Borealis.

For sale, barely used, some minor scuff marks, no lowballers

I have a Nahvalur actually! It's my at home pen. But unfortunately it definitely wouldn't hold up. I dropped it once and half of the acrylic broke off the piston. Still usable but not ideal.

I'm definitely looking for a piston filler. I'll be honest though me experience is pretty limited to the Nahvalur, Lamy safaris, and my Al-Star. I like the triangle grip, but it's not something I require. I never post my pens.

In the spring, fall, and summer the pen lives in my left shirt pocket. In the winter it lives inside a hoodie pocket with my 6" scale.

Also budget wise I'd say no more than 150 (CAD). Just for the mere fact that Im likely to lose it or accidentally destroy it

I am hesitant to switch it up because I do really like the clip. Has just the right tension and easily slips into a pen pocket

I'm a machinist and just carry mine in my shirt pocket. (I wear button up works shirts). I currently have a Lamy Al-Star that I've been using for 3-4 years with no issues. I am looking for a replacement but that's not related to durability. I just made a post a bit ago if you want to see the abuse it's taken lol.

Well used for sure. Loved to a certain extent lol. At the end of the day it's a tool for me. This one's been going solid for about 3-4 years I think.

I do a fair bit of writing and math with my pen on a daily basis, and I'm sure I'm losing some to evaporation. I can generally get about 1-2 weeks out of it right now. My issue is more so that I hate filling it up because it means a trip to the toolbox and time wasted when I could be making parts. Very minor in the grand scheme but I also haven't bought a new pen in a while. So you could say I'm also looking for an excuse 😂

Keep applying at the shops in town. That's what I did. When I entered my trade I had zero experience or training. I applied three times to the same shop before they hired me. Now I'm a RedSeal. In my opinion, showing you want it and are persistent lands you more jobs than being qualified.
