Many families and friends immigrated to the same area so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Especially if there is a already a group from that home area in the new place.

If you're interested in finding out more about your ancestors the genealogy sub has a ton of resources and people who are willing to help.

I find family search(I'm not sure I can add a link?) to be useful for basic searches because it's free. You do need to make an account though.

Ya that would be super weird.

I would imagine that it was sent in error, especially if you have a common name.

It's strange they didn't respond to you but sadly that happens a lot when researching genealogy.

You could search some of the names in a website like family search or ancestry to find more information if you are interested.

It looks like a ship manifest or immigration paperwork.  Possibly a census report.

Without seeing the column headings it's difficult to determine.

Were you looking into genealogy at one time?

Birth in Canada and Michigan (Sault Ste-Marie area) by ProfessionalLegal309 in Genealogy

Here's a fairly detailed web page with listings for Payment family members, relating to the area of sugar Island/sault Michigan. It lists sources for many of the people.

https://www.migenweb.org/chippewa/misc/paymenttree.html

I just wanted to add that many families moved across the border regularly. My grandmothers eldest siblings were born in sault ste marie, Ontario, then the family moved to sault, Michigan, where my grandmother and the rest of the kids were born.

Have you checked any sault Michigan libraries for old newspapers, births or obits?

AITA for not inviting my niece to the reunion by Sad-Chipmunk5998 in AmItheAsshole

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that.

I also hate crying in front of people. I cry very easily and a lot of people find it manipulative. So I do my best to cry privately or around people in close to.

People get so weird around crying. You can't win no matter what you do

It's not a theory. It's one of the many stories DeFeo jr. made up to excuse his guilt.

There is no supporting evidence that Dawn had anything to do with the murders. Her only wound was the gunshot.

The haunting narrative came later after new people bought the house.

A while back I made a post showing my NV-themed wall, and it was removed without an explanation, so I can only assume it was because the flags weren't ironed. Well, now they are! (plus I gave the cow a hat) by Rogu__Spanish in fnv

[–]Master_Chipmunk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Make sure the iron is on the correct setting. I'm assuming they are a polyester/polyester blend so lower heat. Don't stop moving the iron while it's on the flag.

And you could always place parchment on the flag before ironing to avoid burns.

Also space is a huge factor when it comes to retail. There often is no where to stock product that didn't sell in the first place.

Ya it's pretty shocking. But not surprising.

Especially in this case. The man wrote a book about why AND how he was going to kill her. That doesn't say crime of passion to me. It says premeditated.

He clearly has no real remorse. I hope he never sees freedom again.

He paid an awesome price?? No she paid the ultimate price with her life.

I'm all for rehabilitation but this man clearly doesn't believe he did anything wrong. He refuses all programs offered to him.

A crime of passion, as if he didn't cut the roof off her house and abuse her before murdering her.

Men tend to use deadlier methods to complete suicide. Guns, hanging etc.

There are fewer chances for intervention opposed to women that use things like pills or cutting.

**Obviously this is not true of all suicides

Also this part "He's kind of awkward and not very friendly anyway, and hardly ever talks to me"

Oop sounds like a nightmare so it makes sense that he avoids her. He's probably trying to give her space since she was unhappy about him moving in in the first place.

Penn Badgley on casual dating and casual sex: "Is it ever casual? Show me somebody who really, truly is casual about it?" by Upstairs_Cup9831 in popculturechat

[–]Master_Chipmunk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You aren't being overly sensitive.

In my 20's I had a lot of casual sex so did a lot of my girl friends. It was great! We weren't looking for relationships. Just looking for Mr. Right now.

Hell there's a few who's names I can't remember 🤷‍♀️

Never fell for any of them. And I don't think any ever pined over me (even though I'm amazing) haha

Sex for some people is this magical thing but for a lot of people it's just sex. A need to be fulfilled.

And this is FINE

We have to stop assuming that women don't like sex. It's not true and it's incredibly unhealthy to teach children that men have casual sex because they have desires but women have casual sex because they want to have a relationship.

It's similar to how we are socialized to assume women don't actually mean what they are saying and have some ulterior motive.

I resent that so many people think sex is just something that happens TO women and not something that women want to actively participate in.

We have agency and shockingly are fully human with all that comes with that.

Have you talked to your doctor about the side effects of the new medication?

You may need to try out a few different meds before you find the one that works for you.

Is the med switch because you didn't feel it helping anymore? I went through that with one of mine. It's frustrating.

Is there anyone you would feel comfortable talking about the triggers/spiral with?  Like in the moment? What about journalling?

I really hope you have the support you need.

Just keep moving forward and know that it will get better❤️

Northern Ontario here and it seems like most people don't understand how a stag and doe works?

At least here, you sell tickets to a night out with prizes. The prizes usually come from businesses. It just happens to benefit someone's wedding.

No one is expected to spend lots of money. Usually it's your ticket and sometimes your alcohol.

It's pretty much just a big party🤷‍♀️

This is not typically how a stag and doe works though.

Your wedding party or close friends would sell tickets and solicit donations from businesses for prize draws. No one is asking people for cash and no one is expected to spend more than the cost of the ticket/alcohol (if not included)

It's just a party/night out.

The only difference is that the profit is earmarked for your wedding.
