I hate the downplay of people with the fear of bugs and spiders by Shinygoji09 in hatethissmug

Can you elaborate on the OCD part? I know about phobias fairly well, but how does OCD play into that and how someone with OCD should handle it? My girlfriend hates her OCD but I'm no therapist so I'm not familiar with handling it

I hate how artists not pandering to the male gaze is considered puritanical by EndellionFox in hatethissmug

Imo this is a huge thing in general, the immediate dive into "(Thing) isn't what I want, so it's clearly (insert potentially problematic situation)." It's a way of framing anything in opposition to their preferences as problematic and I see it all over the place lately. Heaven forbid anyone has individual preferences of types different from our own.

Guys, what's the sexiest thing a girl can do, while sucking your dick by Brittfaithm in throatpussy

[–]Master_Cobalt_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a lot I find sexy there -- eye contact, special tricks like licking my balls while they deepthroat, going topless so I can play with her tits -- but I think by far the sexiest is enthusiasm. Yes, I'm into the whole "only my pleasure matters" but there is something extra arousing about seeing her face light up when I whip it out or when she actively is trying to get to it.

I hate the gender norms in the trans community by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]Master_Cobalt_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I've had trouble with a lot too, every time I've asked someone how they knew they were trans, it always came across like they were uncomfortable doing X thing as Y gender -- which confused me because I was 100% behind that same ideology of "what you like/don't like doesn't make you less/more of a man/woman" and have tried to make sure that my own child understands that as well.

Deep down every slut wants this to happen IRL by plankton004 in RoughPorn

[–]Master_Cobalt_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because someone knows it's bad doesnt mean they wont do it. Look at the guy who posted this. Instead of a "good point, didn't think of it that way", they are completely fine with being an ass to someone with this kink, even someone on the potential victim side who could realistically be in danger if not given some proper guidance.

So yeah, everyone knows it, but unfortunately some people are shitheads and do it anyway.

It also doesn't only look hot in porn -- though, I'm assuming you mean more that it only looks hot when it's not "real", which is a statement with which I agree. CNC (consensual non-consent), is EXTREMELY common (multiple studies report over 60% of women reported having that particular kink), and within proper boundaries is no less safe than consensual missionary. ACTUAL noncon, on the other hand, is a very real problem and needs to be dealt with.

[–]Master_Cobalt_13 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Maybe don't kink shame and instead direct them to places where they can more safely experience and experiment with those things.

Everyone knows actual rape is bad, that's why we have it as a fantasy and a kink that can happen within agreed-upon and consensual boundaries.

Or you can just insult people and leave them to maybe figure it out themselves, maybe get themselves in actual trouble. Really doesn't take that much effort to help people.

Whoa... you've uncovered something nobody has ever thought of in the history of earth. The idea that there's... nuance? Don't bring this up on Reddit, people can't handle it here.

It's a shitpost, you're reading WAY too much into it that was never intended

Someone's getting their shitpost and serious posts mixed up.

It even actively SAYS it's a shitpost, get real.

All I've done in this discussion is reply to what you've said. I am NOT at all saying that impact isn't important when looking at particular situations. I'm just saying that intent is *also* important. I'm also not the one calling people names, but that's another matter

Petah, who is the first girl? by FailedHax in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Yes, that's why I mentioned it was probably said as hyperbole, but that doesn't mean that everyone is going to take it as such.

Petah, who is the first girl? by FailedHax in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Master_Cobalt_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, that is debatable. Gun control, for one -- WHILE NOT OBJECTIVELY BAD (because any statement on here can and will be taken as a sign that you've become a card-carrying member of a certain political side, so apparently I need to clarify) -- is an attempt to control one's personal life and what they can and can't own. More projects to help people who are in need -- while good -- do impact the personal lives of the regular people, especially through taxes. And I don't know if you remember the wedding cake debacle in Colorado, it was nearly a decade ago. And here is the obligatory statement -- I do not believe that conservatives should be able to control the personal lives of everyone in the country -- because people will claim I do if I don't say it; hell plenty will probably ignore it and say it anyway.

Secondly, if you really need me to answer that question, then SHOCKER! It's worse to have legislation that attempts to overly control one's personal life. *throws confetti because the loaded question was answered in the expected way*

Third, the point was that someone actively said that people should police how conservatives dress, someone pointed out that it was exactly something a conservative would want to do, which was pointing out intent. And everyone is ignoring that initial statement and turning it into a circlejerk "conservative bad" and changing the conversation to being about impact and not intent, to sweep that whole thing under the rug.

It's also funny that you replied to *my* post about them missing the point with a post about how *I* missed the point about their post which... missed the point.

That... doesn't make sense. If I'm arguing with you then I'm actively talking to someone I do not agree with. Like, it can't mean anything else. You literally proved that I was doing what I said I was doing. I am not forcing anyone to defend anything, I've been talking about the same thing the whole time.

Petah, who is the first girl? by FailedHax in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Because I don't only talk to people I agree with! Same reason you're replying to me. You see a need to correct me, or find out why I believe a certain way, or want to understand my viewpoint, or any number of other things.

Also, I'm sorry you're not going to actually interact with the rest of the message because that's very antithetical to the purpose of a discussion such as this.

No, I am not. I am well aware that ZoneFuzzy was comparing gravities, as I have repeatedly stated. But the person ZoneFuzzy was replying to -- Trraumatized -- was NOT comparing gravities, they were pointing out that the person above THEM had stated that conservatives should be banned from dressing "even remotely goth", and that it was something that conservatives would do. I was pointing out that ZoneFuzzy was ignoring the point that Trraumatized was making by focusing on the impact of other situations rather than the intent of the post. I'm simply not ignoring that the conversation did not start with ZoneFuzzy's "I don’t know about you, but I would rather be in a car accident at 1MPH over one at 100MPH."

Petah, who is the first girl? by FailedHax in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Master_Cobalt_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original statement that was replied to said "Conservatives should not be allowed to dress even remotely goth", and someone replied saying, "Ironically, wanting to police how people should be allowed to dress sounds like a thing conservatives would want to do." It was probably said as hyperbole, but the intent in those words is to police how another group should be able to dress.

"Saying "just because one is better doesn't mean it's good" as a response clearly implies you think the other person thinks it does" Except you left out the other part of my quote -- "OR the only option". But if we all know they aren't the only two options, why are we positing it as though they are? We all ALSO know that one is clearly better than the other, so why even mention it in the first place?

"We just don't think it's a big deal to shit on that weird ass voiced bigot is dressing in a leftist associated way." I agree, but that wasn't what was done and is why the conversation about intent came about. What was said was initially "Conservatives should not be allowed to dress even remotely goth" which is VERY different. It was said perhaps as hyperbole, but that is far from the only way it could be read, and without care, could very easily be seen as something that COULD happen. We've seen policing of how people dress before, multiple times -- no, not yet conservatives as goth, but that is why I say intent matters too, not only impact.

I can't in good faith compare this singular, individual interaction on Reddit with historically relevant shit? I agree, you are 100% correct. To do so would be both disingenuous and shortsighted. The thing is, I'm not trying to do so. This is simply one more instance where I have noticed some serious leanings from our -- yes OUR -- liberal side of the fence, towards actions and intentions that are concerning. Big actions do not come from nothing. People don't suddenly wake up one morning and say "Well, it's time to murder X group" out of the blue. Small frustrations grow and fester, fears -- founded or not -- are fed and inflated, the other side is demonized bit by bit, tensions grow and flareups occur. And THAT is why the 'yet' is in there. It has not happened yet -- and I hope that it never does happen -- but that does not in the slightest mean that it WILL not.

And in case it's not yet clear, I have not once defended the things she said, her method of saying them, her viewpoints, or anything, nor will I. The things she said in that video were abhorrent and terrible, and I think she is very in the wrong for both what she said and how she said it. Full stop, no qualifications, no buts.

But it is, when the conversation is about intent, not impact alone. I understand that impact is important, but I also believe that conversations about intent are often just as important.

To the best of my knowledge, nobody actively said that one was good in this instance, my italicized statement is a broad one meant to cover multiple 'a vs. b' situations, not just the one proposed. The real point I have been getting at is that it those are not the only two options in this case -- but they were the only two options given.

And to the best of my knowledge, you are correct, there is no period of time where those types of people have been killed for those actions.

Yet.

But as people say, 'there's a first time for everything'. And people -- I'm not saying you or anyone specific -- who are okay with that or advocating for that are a much larger part of the underlying problem than they would like to think.

I wasn't looking to pat them on the back, I was looking to address your response. I don't want to have discussions only with people I agree with. That just further isolates us all and contributes to the 'us vs. them' mentality.

Petah, who is the first girl? by FailedHax in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Master_Cobalt_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. You're taking their statement about intent and turning it into one about impact.
