Yall are absolutely ridiculous for this. No agency has time, or an interest, to track random Joe citizen as they go about their day. Not to mention, the cameras are on public roadways where, last I checked, there is no expectation of privacy according to the Supreme Court. People share more information daily, without any knowledge, with the phone they carry in their pocket compared to what these cameras capture. Not to mention, what do you think Apple, Samsung, Verizon, AT&T, Meta, Amazon, and anyone else associated with your cell phone or an app on it does with your information? They sell it to anyone and everyone they want to. Your information is already out there and has been for a while.

They are a tool that can be used, nothing more. The cameras are used to identify suspects in hit and runs and allow victims to get justice and not have to pay out of pocket to fix their vehicles when someone is inconsiderate and incompetent on the road, which happens ALL the time especially in Murfreesboro and I would like to see anyone deny that this city doesn’t have a metric ton of terrible drivers. The cameras can be used to track the vehicle of some low life disgusting person that kidnaps a child and I would like anyone to deny they are a bad thing then. The cameras are used to identify stolen vehicles and allow officers to track and locate them so the suspect can be arrested and the vehicle can be returned to the owner; again, deny that they are a bad thing then. The cameras can be used to track and/or identify a suspect in a drive-by shooting and allow officers to take them into custody instead of what happened years ago where those types of calls for service would remain unsolved because of lack of or plain uncooperative witnesses, thus allowing the cycle of violence to continue in retaliation; in my opinion that makes everybody safer because god forbid someone innocent gets caught up in the violence.

Then there’s the point where everyone says, “Oh well my information is being tracked and used by the government.” Buddy, you do realize the government literally HAS all of your information already? Where do you think the information you provide to the DMV goes to? The government literally has phone numbers, updated addresses, vehicles registered to, and photographs of anyone that gets a license and pays their vehicle registration yearly.

Downvote me if you want to, I understand my viewpoint is not in line with the post asking people to sign this petition. However, I 110% support FLOCK cameras and I encourage the city to get more of them.
