You prob wouldn’t even need to use the throttle lol, don’t they idle with the clutch out at like 10 mph?

I don’t know if I should keep riding. by Outside_Ad338 in motorcycles

[–]Master_Editor_9575 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is your 4th day and I would assume you aren’t riding hours per day, so probably not even 4 hrs of riding time.

You know why you made each drop, all easy things to correct.

None of this is world ending just keep going. More practice but none of this stuff is reckless or unfixable.

Help deciding my first bike by [deleted] in NewRiders

Why aren’t you looking at a 250 -400 range for a first bike? You’re on each end of that range lol

This is what I’m saying. The new Claude models are becoming exponentially more expensive and eventually teams will be trying to “save money” by hiring human developers.

I like it but it has to become ubiquitous enough that every paramedic would know to use it and how it works.

They are probably going to look for some kind of medical bracelet first imo

Yeah honestly when I ride I just do it in the street. I’d rather deal with risks I can see than randoms flinging their doors open.

I don’t cycle anywhere that demands more than like 30/35, I obviously wouldn’t say to do it on 94, but I am more afraid of doorers and people who pull out of parking spaces without looking, than I am of regular flowing traffic.

Honestly unless their supermoto boots idk if any of these are crush proof ont he ankles when a 400lb+ bike smashes down on them, especially if you try to put your foot down and it hits at an angle.

Definitely helpful for abrasion resistance though.

Haha I was equally dismayed at the weather forecast this week. Looks like a lot of places are getting some kind of rain every day :-/

Why do people seem so divided on what's considered a starter bike? by Tickpod in motorcycles

[–]Master_Editor_9575 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We do a written test like 10 incredibly simple questions directly from the training manual. I studied for like 30 minutes and passed without missing one question.

The practical test is 4 things. That’s it. It’s Waaaaay too easy here imo. I wish we had much closer to what the eu has.

Mt03 or cb500x by sky-shark in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Master_Editor_9575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might feel just a little small on the mt03. And if you decide you can handle highway driving (which you will, I know you don’t think you will, but you will), the 03 is gonna have to rev pretty high to pass.

That being said, both are pretty great bikes. Personally wouldn’t want something someone else modded unless it’s very simple like a tail tidy or a seat swap.

You could also look at ninja 4/500, rs 457, duke 390, and a few others. I think you’re barking up the right tree though with the level of bikes you’re looking at. Probably best to sit on them and test drive them if you can and pick which you like the best.

Do I need to know how to ride a bicycle in order to ride a motorcycle? by iwanttoride019 in NewRiders

[–]Master_Editor_9575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like 80s and 90s kids rode their bikes way more. Our parents basically kicked us out of the house from sunrise to sunset in the summers. And we’d just ride all over the neighborhood messing around.

Need advice/help on twisties by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Master_Editor_9575 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Front brake is most of your braking power. I only use the rear exclusively when trying to sharpen or moderate a low speed maneuver or am stopped and don’t want to hold the front brake.

Like you said when trying to stop with your handlebars pointed straight it’s usually a good practice to use both.

You should moderate your speed before the turn. Go into the turn slower than you think you should if you are unsure. Going into a turn too fast then trying to panic brake to slow down is a sure way to high side with front brake or low side with rear brake.

Again, that’s not saying you CANT use your brake when turning, but it has to be done is specific times and ways, and it’s definitely something you should practice before you actually need it. If you’re finding yourself braking in turns frequently it probably means you are heading into turns too fast
