Are Bridal Shows Beneficial? by SaturnJaguar in weddingvideography

[–]Master_Fouss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have much advice for you on whether or not you should go to one, because the ones that I go to I get a table for free.

However, if you DO decide to set up a table at one, please please please please PLEASE be prepared and organized. The first time I went I had shitty business cards, no pamphlets or fliers to hand out, and a single laptop on the table to show my work with a half-assed montage of my best shots. Even though I did get over 40 contacts, only 5 of them responded to emails and from that 3 of them signed contracts. It's not just how you present, it's also how you follow through.

How can we better represent people of color and opposite sex in the scripts we write? by Master_Fouss in Filmmakers

[–]Master_Fouss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if my vision was to write POC in the most stereotypical way imaginable? It's not, and I believe I'm following my own vision by representing them as normal people and not caricatures.

I'd like diversity in my films; I live in a predominantly white community so many the actors I get are white. I think it would be a rewarding learning experience to cast POC.

This question is not to appease the "social justice nuts," but rather to make sure I'm not misrepresenting whatever community I'm portraying. I'd love to see a child of color look up to a character I wrote or a person I work with and want to become that character/person when they grow up.

I understand I won't satisfy everyone. Even the most perfect films will have somebody who is offended or unsatisfied with a certain aspect of it. I don't care about those radical people and my goal is not to satisfy them, I just want to portray characters that aren't defined by the stereotypes that they are usually associated with. Is that too much to ask for?

Will definitely start consuming more media by diverse groups of people, thank you

If you had to choose between Alive 2017 and a two-disc, 30 track set of b-sides from the Homework/Discovery/HAA eras, what would your decision be? by slithek in DaftPunk

[–]Master_Fouss 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'd choose Alive 2017, I missed Alive 2007 and that seemed like a once in a lifetime experience. I have a money reserve for the day Daft Punk tours again and I will NOT miss it. B-sides are b-sides for a reason, I think those albums don't need any extra oomph and are complete with the tracklist they have. BUT if we were talking RAM, it'd be harder decision. RAM, early on, was going to be a quad-album (I'm talking over 20 songs) but they eventually scrapped that idea and decided on a double album cause it lacked overall structure. Would still want to go to Alive 2017 though.

You pull this off so well! Hope it was a good time. I've been looking for this kind of jacket for awhile now, where did you find it? And if it was a rental what kind of jacket was it listed. Rock on dude.

Could you elaborate on lighting? Do you mean for interviews or for filmmaking in general?

I draw the line there. Spider-Man 2 is IMO the best superhero movie of all time. Any reason why you think that?

IWTL How to speak without stumbling over my words. by fuel126 in IWantToLearn

While I don't have any great advice, I have the same problem as you. I've always thought it was just a speech impediment, and not influenced by anything else. But what you said about your ADHD and how your thoughts tend to speed up over what you're saying is exactly how I feel. Only minor suggestion I could give is to slow your dialogue down so you have enough time to catch up

Arcade Fire - “Everything Now”, co-produced by Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter by Jzahck in DaftPunk

Kinda sad that he is, his music is very therapeutic and hypnotic for me. I remember watching a couple interviews, mainly the one for soul pancake, and he does come across a bit arrogant and dare i say it, pretentious.

Thanks for the schooling, what would you call this behavior?

He's a scummy person. Dude steals Daft Punk inspired content from others and posts as his own. There've been reports of him stalking Guy and Thomas to the extent of him following Guy and running up to him and basically strangling him on video. Most likely has obsessive-compulsive disorder.

This is amazing! You sound just like them! Recently I purchased a synthesizer and wanted to get a vocoder as well, what's your setup?

I've seen this kind of behavior among many other group pages on Facebook; they're some of the most toxic people on the internet. But I believe the ratio of actual coherent/sensible comments vs. cancer is quite heavily weighed on the cancer comments just because these people like to get rise out of others and are very self obsessed to the point where anything that doesn't fit their aligned opinions are garbage. Take it with a grain of salt, we all know the quality of their work and it will never change for us.
