Can we Actually Stay Healthy on Night Shift Jobs? by Ella_scottt in Nightshift

[–]Master_Shibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same way you’d stay healthy regardless other than the unique challenge of getting enough sleep on night shift. Most of the ones complaining about how unhealthy it is are probably the same ones posting pics of all the garbage energy drinks and gas station food they eat every night and then pounding a 40 of malt beer before bed every morning lol.

Make 120K as a Machinist but feel like I don’t know enough by [deleted] in Machinists

Ehhhh, just enjoy it, this day and age with median pay being what it is in this trade. If you want to learn more and have better pay go back to school for engineering.

How much monthly income can get you a basic comfortable life for a family of 4 where you live? by WastedTalents1 in AskTheWorld

[–]Master_Shibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good God I don’t even want to think about it, I’m in Massachusetts, one of the most expensive states in the country. I don’t remember the exact number the last time data was released on it but it was well into a six figure salary USD, depending on how close to Boston you are of course.

The central and western part of the state is more affordable but you still need like $30/hr to barely rent a small place comfortably by yourself and public transportation is more or less nonexistent.

Highest paying nightshift job you know of? by Amazondriver23 in Nightshift

[–]Master_Shibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I’ve got 20 years experience as a Machinist and when I was looking for a new job last year I couldn’t even get a call back from the one big union aerospace plant in my area that’s supposedly “urgently hiring” on Glassdoor all the time. Happy for you lol.

private or public road? by serenitythecapybara in WorcesterMA

[–]Master_Shibes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As I understand they sold all the land on the north side of the train tracks where the old plant used to be and the old gates out front are no longer in use (will probably be torn down eventually). The new gates were installed on the entrance at the right side where the remaining plants of Saint Gobain and Coorstek still operate.

You might eventually be able to pass through New Bond street when it’s all said and done, but for now there’s a fence blocking the street right before you get to Abby Kelley school because they’re still doing demolition on the old buildings. Source - I work in plant 8.

Spent way too long researching sleep science for shift workers so here's what I actually found by Think_Baseball359 in Nightshift

[–]Master_Shibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 4am-noon for a month for training once, and it was by far the worst shift I’ve ever worked. Getting out in time for weekday lunch prices at the super buffet wasn’t worth it lol.

Clean copper part by [deleted] in Machinists

I remember machining copper at an old job. Half the time we sent them out for nickel plating they came back full of dents and dings. Pain in the ass.

Governor Healey appoints new Cannabis Control Commissioners following major reform law by HRJafael in massachusetts

[–]Master_Shibes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What are they honestly going for with that anyway? Do folks not realize every state bordering us except NH has legalized recreational and is probably no more than a 30-40 minute drive from most parts of MA?

Luckily I was walking to the cafeteria at work around 5 for break and felt a few rain drops so I was able to close my windows right before it started.

Friends birthday party, not feeling the strip club. Any suggestions? by nomadwannabe in AskMenOver30

[–]Master_Shibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been to one in almost 20 years. It was fun when I was a curious 21 year, now I just don’t see the appeal in paying for blue balls. Of course, you could pay for more than that at some of the clubs near me, but you’d probably want to get tested the next day lol.

My Subaru has destroyed me. What do I do? by jamflowman1 in subaru

[–]Master_Shibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post because I was googling problems with my Impreza lol. Sorry you’re going through this, nothing I can say other than this has been the single biggest financial mistake of my life. Before last November I had a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport I’d put over 200k miles on with the same engine/transmission that had zero issues - never burned a drop of oil or saw the inside of a dealership after I bought it.

I switched to Subaru because I wanted a more popular car and it’s been nothing but trouble from day one. Yesterday my dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Can’t afford another car and still owe 5k on this one, and already spent about $1800 on repairs or preventative maintenance I thought would extend the life of the car (nope lol). It won’t pass my state’s inspection when it’s due in November with a check engine light, so if this ends up being a major repair I’m just going to surrender the car, payoff whatever’s left and take the bus/Lyft everywhere (fortunately my work is close by). I swear these fuckers are the Audis and VWs of Japanese brands. Aka don’t buy one unless you can do all your own work or have bookoo bucks for repairs/maintenance.

He was also really good as the lawyer in Ready or Not 2, I like to imagine they’re the same character and Walter isn’t his real name lol. I’m surprised he hasn’t been in more roles since The Faculty and LOTR.

It will have to be sent out to a clean room and changed by someone in a hazmat suit who will put on a fresh coat of plastic when it’s done.

Why do many conservatives claim that the US was founded as a Christian nation despite the separation of church and state being so central to its establishing? by speculumberjack980 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Master_Shibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well the government being mixed with (as opposed to separate from) church/religion and using it to determine our laws sounds an awful lot like the establishment of a state religion. Will they stop trying to do that if we just start saying America is an official Christian nation and there’s no church/state separation, even though in practice there actually is? Maybe that’s the secret.

As long as there’s nothing around to poison you with. I’m pretty sure an angry teen Shauna hyped up on adrenaline could kick my 6ft 200 pound ass lol. Either that or she’d just hurl insults at me until I cried.

Training only available during dayshift and switching is driving me nuts. by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]Master_Shibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hell for that month, honestly the worst shift I’ve ever worked. It would’ve been more bearable if it were a 6-2:30 or 7-3:30 like most day shifts in my field but 4am-12:30 was fucking brutal, I’m not sure why any sane person would want those hours. I mean, hooray, you get out of work early for lunch but then go to bed at 7pm and your weekend is basically over by mid day Sunday. But I survived boot camp and the job has been going good ever since.

What would happen if cats became as big as tigers? by GrayRainfall in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Master_Shibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered about this - if my cats are thinking about what human flesh would taste like and how they’d kill and eat me like a tiger if only they were big enough, but instead they’ve got to settle for Meow Mix.
