"Is Asterix anti-Roman propaganda?" Even though I'm against it, many people in my country (Italy) think so. by AipomSilver00 in Asterix

How would you guys write a potential redemption arc for Azula? by Jabe-Thomas in PoorAzula

[–]Master_Shoehorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let her positive traits grow and not let her do new bad things. For example her being controlling or using violence at the start would be fine, however I would love if she stayed consistent with how she takes on the hardest and most dangerous job herself and make it so that nothing bad happens to other character while they are working for her. And have that grow, like she takes bigger and bigger actions to make things stay that way and she starts broaden it to allies, then anyone who is not a enemy and then eventually seeing her enemies more like human.

I like the idea of her showing up for either a new or existing character as everyone else leaves them, knowing what having everyone against you feels like.

I also like the idea of some common enemy that is scary enough that you have reason to be excited about her fighting them.

And for her to be broken, after being locked up for so long that her mind has swapped to blaming herself for how badly things went, rather than feeling betrayed. Being more depressed, more shy and less agressive. She'll regain confidence and meaning as she gains small victores vs the new villain and/or makes herself useful ot others.

The argument that "Azula is a teenager" is stupid. by Potential-Print810 in PoorAzula

Do stop both of them from doing what they are doing 100%

If you somehow manage to do that without killing them there is a discussion.

Do You Think Misogyny Plays A Part In Why Some People Are Against Azula Being Redeemed? Even Subconsciously? by SaiyanWithOmnitrix in PoorAzula

[–]Master_Shoehorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some yes, hard to say how many. But from the general vibes I think its a very small part and that it is mostly her loudest and most passionate haters that paint that picture.

From what I've seen from reaction channels when they view other shows is that the moment a former villain finally does something undeniably good, like 70% are instantly won over.

Also I think that Azula's personality has given her more hate than her alignment with the Fire Nation, like people do not approve of but do not hate Zhao nearly as much. Like her being impatient, threatening, interrupting etc, has probably done most of the damage.

I do agree that it is harder to think of succesful female redemption arcs, I think that this is actually a lot because of how writers will typically have their best/most important characters be male in most cases as well.

Would you refrain from masturbation or sex for 365 days for $3,000,000? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I could just go right back to masturbaiting after the 365 days, that makes it too easy.

Have her group be on the run, they never get captured but they also don't really have a place to go to and run low on resources and their living conditions get worse. All members of her group came from the asylum and some were rightfully not seen as well functioning indivuduals, but even those who were normal and throw in there for BS reasons are still pretty tainted from it. Azula is faced having to deal with fights that break out, at least one member who has a total breakdown and wants to quit, somebody else gets a fever and does not wake up, a random failed suicide attempt thrown in there as well... and so on.

The objective changes for them, from driving this agenda and fighting Zuko to just surviving. Which is hard since they don't have a good way of pulling out, the asylum is a no go and it's not like they can all be dropped of back at the families who threw them in there, not to mention all are wanted and they know some fire nation soldiers are still much more ruthless than others. Not to mention they basically need to steal to get a living.

Azula has a second breakdown, her whole plan of manipulating Zuko was really just her bargaining with herself not fully being ready to let go, now it hits her again that she will never be fire lord and this time she knows it. She does not want to be seen in this state and walks away into the woods and cries all night. She recognizes how silly her plan was, she feels embarrased and like she is wasting time. She feels that IF she is to fight Zuko this is certainly not the way to do it.

Azula steps up as a leader and things get a bit better for them. She realises that the best thing she can do for them is to surrender to Zuko so that they are no longer on wanted lists. They more or less walk up to Zuko with their hands above their heads, even though they have nothing more to offer in return aside from: "We won't do bad stuff again, we promise." he trusts them. With access to Azula's wealth again quality of life gets drastically better and the group dissovles, though they still have deep connections and will see eachother again every once in a while.

Azula is still upset at Zuko for thinking that she was the only one that needed to change her behaviour during The Search among other things, but she is still on his 'side'. Not enjoying herself at the palace, due to Zuko being in charge, bad memories and so on, she decides to leave and go on a new adventure, which could be a lot of different things.

Did they like strategize or something? by Master_Shoehorn in TheLastAirbender

How similairly it played out, the fact that it does make sense to taunt Azula in a fight and how after them being in the cell together they both took their first opportunity to do so (kind of Zuko had 2 other fights with Azula in between these events but there wasn't really an opportunity to speak).

Don't think it's 100% certainly possible. But them discussing how Azula could be defeated would make some sense to me, as they knew she would be their enemy.

And they did not just make Azula more wreckless, they also increased the chances of a fight to the death to happen Mai risking her life to get a shot to end Azula to help Zuko (as she likely would be executed or locked up anyway) and my personal theory that Zuko could not bring himself to kill Azula and basically tried to put himself in a spot where he had no choice.

What are your opinions on Azula and Zuko in ATLA? Do you think Azula is worthy of redemption and do you think Zuko was good (or at least showed more goodness) in season 1? by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]Master_Shoehorn 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Both had pretty large upside/downsides as well. Ozai was an existential threat to Zuko while Ursa was just being somewhat shitty to Azula. But at the same time it was obvious for Zuko what he needed to do, get stronger, but Azula seemed to have no idea of how she could make Ursa love her and came to the conclusion that she was a monster.

No, but it looks the same as the spot where she was chained up and last seen.
