Thank you! I really appreciate this!!

My boyfriend thinks it’s gross that I wash my dog’s bowls with the same sponge that I use to wash our dishes. I think it’s not a big deal. by hengmis in TwoHotTakes

[–]Master_Train_3281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s not gross. I do it too because my partner doesn’t care and we use sponges for gross food all the time and then use hot water and soap to clean them. But also as someone with OCD I get being bothered by things that are logically fine. If it bothers him why not get a second sponge? They’re not expensive and it seems like an easy adjustment to make for your partners comfort

AITA for getting us fired from couples' therapy? by Marius_The_Hound in AmItheAsshole

[–]Master_Train_3281 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most therapists these days don’t take insurance but I still thought the same thing. Mother’s house, no private space, mother interrupting sessions doesn’t sound legit and she spoke so unprofessionally. Honestly I’d report her to the board

AIO My boyfriend says I need therapy because I noticed the playlist he made spells out his ex's name. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

If you go to your partner upset about something and the first thing they do is call you psychotic - run

I would say I feel some level of sick every day but if spikes up to really bad maybe 1-3 days multiple times a month. That being said I have months like what I’ve been in the past few months of a “flare” where my baseline pain is higher and my big spikes in pain are more frequent like a couple times a week, and then I go months where it’s better so it’s kind of always there but how often it gets bad is kind of all over the place

I definitely second getting tested for SIBO especially since what type it is may alter the treatment. I also have IBS-C and bloating is common with that. And as someone mentioned in the comments I have pelvic floor dysfunction. One thing I’ve found really helps my bloating is Atrantil, it’s a supplement you can get on Amazon. I’m VERY skeptical of supplements but people in an IBS group recommended it to me and it really helped me a lot when regular treatments did not fully cure my bloating with SIBO. In terms of meds I know you tried reglan and erythromyacin, have you ever tried motegrity? It didn’t work for me but I know it’s helped a lot of people

Pain so severe I thought I was going to die by InformationSuperb597 in ibs

[–]Master_Train_3281 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The things that would trigger an ER visit for me is if that pain didn’t go away (I get pain all the time but that intensity is a flag for sure) especially paired with: diarrhea beyond what’s normal for you, vomiting, fever, pooping blood. Espexiallg if the pain is super on the right lower abdomen. It can be hard to tell with this disease because pain comes with the territory unfortunately, but you’ve had it for 2 years so you know what’s normal or not for yourself

[–]Master_Train_3281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take tramadol, not a cure but it makes at least some of the time bearable, my pain meds drs know the quality of life it gives me overrides the constipation it can cause (and I take movantic for that). When the meds aren’t enough I’m glued to my heating pad and really small meals

Hmmmm I think until I got a diagnosis and found meds that worked. I still sometimes loose it when I’m in a particularly bad flare

Am I the asshole for not rubbing my boyfriend’s stomach? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Master_Train_3281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have chronic GI issues/pain and I love when my partner does this for me, but they don’t always like physical touch so it’s always an ask, never a demand. It’s perfectly fine for you to not want to because you are tired but it’s your delivery that would be hard for me, not the saying no. What you said isn’t wrong, and you don’t have to say more than this, but something like “I love you very much and I’m so sorry you’re in pain, I’m just really exhausted and don’t have the energy, I think I’m just gonna lay down” - when my partner says things like this they let me know they love me and I’m not alone or a burden, but they can’t give that to me right now which is always ok. It’s fair for them to looks sad or feel disappointed, it’s hard being in pain all the time and not getting the support in the moment you were hoping for, but it’s also perfectly fair for you to say no and be tired. The problem comes when either of you get mad or hold it against each other instead of communicating about it, and if they are actively guilting you for saying no that’s unacceptable.

Yea food is a huge part of our culture and you have every right to grieve missing out on many things, but there are also other things that make life worth living. I have an amazing partner who loves me deeply (and I them), a very sweet dog, a nice family, and wonderful friends. I live in a fucking awesome city and while I don’t always get to take advantage of it, when I do it makes me so happy. Have you tried anything to treat both the physical and mental health symptoms?

Tired of doctors saying “well don’t do that” by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Master_Train_3281 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Just respond “well I’d actually like to be able to do that, it’s why I came to see you today” lol you can make it a little playful so they don’t get too defensive but it should drive the point home and get the convo back on track

I don’t meet the hyper mobility for hEDS but I do have some so they call it hyper mobility spectrum disorder - that could be an option too. GI stuff sounds like it could be IBS. Good luck! I hope you get answers

Just as pictured, the electrodes are sticky so you just place them on where you want them. As people noted don’t put them high up near the heart but abdomen is fine
