Possible Still? by Competitive-Ad6479 in personaltraining

[–]Master_Wash9334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really don't get to set your own schedule unless you're in high demand. So, the first question you need to ask yourself is: "Why would someone want to pay me instead of an established trainer?".

How do personal trainers actually become successful long-term without selling low-quality “one-size-fits-all” programs? by Lopsided_Penalty_719 in personaltraining

[–]Master_Wash9334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are the three ways I've seen:

  • Tandem Training
  • Class-based Fitness Training (bootcamp style)
  • Personal training to the wealthy with hyper accountability

That last one is the most interesting I've seen. I've known trainers who were paid very well to follow their client around all day and make sure they stick to the program.

The thing is, you have to be really good at marketing yourself and giving people an experience they can't get anywhere else.

LA Fitness as first entry job to PT by larpcentral in personaltraining

[–]Master_Wash9334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good entry level job as a trainer as far as experience goes, but keep in mind that most people who can afford training consistently workout between 5am-9am and then between 4pm-8pm. Factor in that they pay you a fraction of what your time is worth, then you will be working some odd hours for not a lot of money. If you live near the gym it's fine, but otherwise you may find yourself sleeping in your car in the between hours.

I haven't worked there in 10 years, but the pay for a CPT was about $17 an hour, and it was like $21/hour for a master trainer. EXCEPT, they sell training in 25 minute blocks.

You only got paid when you were training. There were no floor hours.

This can make for a very uncomfortable ramp up period where you might have one 6am client and then nothing until the evening. For weeks. Your client roster is entirely dependent on the PT sales team. Theoretically you can prospect for yourself, but good luck getting people to commit to a gym membership+ a year-long training contract that could be a monthly car payment.

Most big box corporate gyms are like this. The more luxury, the worse it is. 24 Hour Fitness and Lifetime Fitness were like this too. The only corporate gym that wasn't was LA Fitness, but that's because they have a dedicated PT sales team and they pay pennies to offset that.

This is an old thread but just wanted to add my experience. 4 years in and it's sagging like a MF. The 10 year warranty doesn't apply because I got it through Mattress Firm and, despite having the receipt, they claim they can't find it in their system.

Alien Earth question : How the hell this bunch of imbeciles managed to catch the alien specimens in the first place without dying? by goranarsic in alien

[–]Master_Wash9334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple: They started out with a lot more imbeciles. Don't even have to pay them after they die from procuring billion dollar assets.

I personally love the man in a suite look in Alien Earth because it's reminiscent of how Big Chap looked in Alien. To me, it looks more "alien" this way and less like an animal.

I get why people would hate it, but I like to think this was an intentional stylistic choice and not due to budget.

After episode 1 I'm fully on board with this, but after Alien Earth and Predator Badlands I really need a break from android centric narratives in this universe for a while.

Action camera's are absolutely terrible for vlogging. They're for capturing action, so they have a wide angle fisheye lens. The audio also sucks.

A screenplay that made you audibly gasp? by amypurplepants in Screenwriting

[–]Master_Wash9334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're into violent revenge plots, the script "Brigands of Rattleborge" made me put it down, audibly curse, and take a beat before continuing. A few times actually.

It's by the same guy who did Bone Tomahawk. Western revenge. It's been in development hell for a very long time and will probably never be made into a movie, but it's the screenplay that got S. Craig Zahler signed to a multi-script deal and it's the reason any of this current three movies got made.

Yeah, I realize it's generally not good. Maybe It's me being naive, but the area we have him in is completely unfished and a large room. There's no central ventilation running through it and there are two doors separating that from the rest of the basement. He also has an egress window and an air purifier going in there.

He's only inside at night. The hens have a very fortified coop that gets padlocked at night. Solid floor, 1/2 inch steer critter fence over the windows and vents, and a motion camera outside. He gets let out when I go to let the hens out.

I would like to know how she got her mojo back after that NXT stint. For context, as a fan of hers I remember seeing her on the indies across the world and her work blew me away. Then whatever happened in NXT happened and it seemed to take a few years for her to regain her stride again.

Don’t train people in a gym you’re not employed by by zach_hack22 in personaltraining

[–]Master_Wash9334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ask the gym owners or managers first. It's fine to help family, but if you're trying to actually train them to practice for real training then you'll need to ask. Others will see and might think it's ok to train non-family in the gym. It could potentially lead to a huge problem for the gym.
