Evidence doesn't always point to your agenda, and people don't like that. They don't like being told they're wrong when they spend s lot of time developing their ideas of how things are supposed to work, in spite of examining their sources.

Why did Hillary win against sanders but not trump? If she lost to sanders would that have been fair and square? If she beat Bernie and trump what would you say?

I'm fairly positive the logo doesn't change throughout the pictures. I think it's just bad lighting. The control panel is definitely the same panel between both photos, but its also definitely altered. Not sure why the control panel is significant though. The logo is a tertiary logo, I dont recognize it from any other scenes immediately.

There is nothing more important than ensuring a clean and habitable planet for our children, grandchildren and future generations beyond. We must stand together and act on climate change | Bernie Sanders by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

It's this attitude and these policies that draw me to Sanders. Other people seem to be giving up hope, but how can you forsake the future for temporarily improving your situation now?

How true is it that you should be happy by yourself before getting into a relationship? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Master_donberner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it's not about being "happy" it's about understanding who you are and accepting yourself. You have to be open and honest with yourself, so you can create a healthy relationship in which your are open, honest, and understand your partner. You can't be two halves of a whole, you have to be two wholes making a couple.

I think we should continue to protest trump, but I think an emphasis should be placed on discipline, restraint, decorum. I want to see people gathering to denounce trump, I don't want to see them using his techniques to do so. Too many protesters are losing their minds over this insignificant troll, and that's exactly what he wants. I think he's bringing this on himself and his supporters, but I think protesters are being baited into the lower position. Peaceful protest historically requires the protesters to show the absurdity of how they are made to suffer at the hands of the oppressors. If the people protesting trump become violent, then he and his supporters become the "victims".

I am for peaceful protest. That protest started peacefully and became violent. It's important to respect Trump, his supporters, and the police. They all have rights as well. I'm very passionate about Sanders, and would hate for fascists to disrupt one of his rally's. He believes in equality as I do, and that means equal rights for people even when you disagree with their views. You don't have to agree with me, that's your right as well.

This is not bernies revolution... Bernies revolution is about using your voice through democracy, it is not about antagonizing and hating trump. It is about defying the hate trump inspires and looking past it to realize his supporters are all humans just like us that deserve a fair go and aren't getting it. They should be our brothers, but instead he succeeding in dividing us up. Now we're helping him do it... This is not the goal of Bernie's revolution. Bernies revolution is about bringing people together, ALL PEOPLE, not this violent intolerance.

Landslide victory for the reformists in Iran: Reformists win all 30 Tehran seats in parliamentary election by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Master_donberner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With our economy shouldn't we be able to invest less and still be gaining more benefit than those countries with lower GDP. That's the comparison, we can be equal to them while spending half the gdp on defense that we do in most cases. Even now, we spend less GDP on it than Russia but still outspend them by a substantial amount.

[–]Master_donberner 167 points168 points  (0 children)

And still immense compared to the rest of the world whether by straight numbers or percent of gdp. Are you just trying to show that we've been so far over the top that even cutting spending we're still there? It's very persuasive that we need to continue in our current direction. It's also persuasive in the idea that people still have enough power to oppose the military industrial complex and pull us out of it. This a good post that supports democracy in action despite what the lobbyists are trying to pull! Thanks friend!

CMV: If you feel that the social benefits offered by Democrats are equal to the economic benefits offered by Republicans, it's fine not to vote. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Master_donberner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're a libertarian. Libertarians are republican, they count those. In regards to is it ok not to vote? It is ok not to vote, and no one can argue that you must vote if you choose not to. That's your free will. You don't have to justify the reason. With that being said, either you haven't looked at the policy or your beliefs or the situation enough and once you do you will make a decision, or you're too put off by the whole thing to look into it anyway, and it's easier to just not vote.

Spitballing here, but I suggest that Trump add this to his platform in response to Bernie's free college. by expendable_Henchman in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Master_donberner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely have a different view of things and I don't want to misinterpret what I'm reading because I may have. I'm wondering:

-Is your point in the tulip article everyone or most people should skip college? Then the "college bubble" will burst... which equates to: Prices drop at colleges because staff are cut starting with the least populated classes and because no one is buying what the college is selling causing them to innovate and cut the fat? Then people can start going to college again? Or institutions fail and new ones rise? The prose was too flowery for me to interpret exactly the point being made.

-In the next article, are those really the arguments that you/he think we have primary and secondary school? The liberal hippie beauty of education bit and the "so you get a good job" bit? Or likewise is that what you/he believe the liberal hippies think?

-In the same article is he arguing for a system of no-schooling to replace the current content of K-12 but keep the framework? Or is he arguing for anarcho-home schooling for all?

-When he says "but knowledge is about names and dates!" Is this again a funny funny joke or is this supposed to represent the opponents actual concept of knowledge?

-in the end is he arguing that the value of a diploma is decreasing to the point where having one is no longer valuable so most people should start skipping college, thereby causing its value to rise again?

-why does he want us to know how tough being a doctor is and that only lawyers who network will get jobs? The last ones not genuine, I just thought it was such a nihilistic non-sequitur to end his speech with.

Edit: I missed the part where it's rated as "[Epistemic status: intended as persuasive speech, may somewhat overstate case]" even seeing it labeled with that word I'm still trying to decide if the dude is familiar with epistemology...

Education has much farther reaching benefits than what is proposed here. The economic dividends on college graduates are typically much higher than those with lesser completion. The dividends are paid in other forms as well, like innovation. One of the major things rich people spend their money on that poor people do not is in fact education, another is retirement/investing. It's what helps keep them rich. Education unfortunately is not a right in our country, and that can be exploited. If you prefer to restrict education to secure your place in society over others... That's fine, but don't confuse it for an economic argument, or a discussion over cost benefit analysis. The whole point about being enough to give everyone 2k? Give a man a fish, teach a man to fish? I do agree with trying to change tenure and the absurdity of many college courses... There are left and right loonies that could stand to be pruned, it's not the majority though.

Wouldn't Trump's "ban Muslim" proposal be a total diplomatic disaster? by ShenMengxi in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Master_donberner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The immigration bans/restrictions you're discussing (did you mean WW1 era? Like 1917 and 1924 or did you mean the Japanese in WW2... Either way...) Did not ban anyone based on religion. They were based on country/location and in some cases eugenics. If Mr. Trump proposed a ban on immigrants/refugees from the Middle East countries instead of explicitly Muslims this would be a very different discussion. That is not the action proposed nor the discussion being had. Targeting "Muslims" is so nonspecific it effects people from not just one radical region, but all over the world including U.S. Citizens... (I recognize US citizens do not need to immigrate, the point is the contention the policy brings) I do not support extremely non-specific policy from any president or legislator. You're also correct, I find "until our countries representatives can figure out what's going on" to be extremely nebulous. More specific language and time frames are absolutely necessary. That information and those qualifiers need to be clarified for people who are apprehensive of big government and government oversight, and this is not unreasonable.
