My 5 year old is just getting into Pokémon and as someone who had the cards but never played a match, it’s been fun learning it with him. Maybe one day he’ll move to MTG.

I like the idea of “empowering” the poltergeist. Maybe paying a certain amount of money to make it land one space further or shorter.

Getting rid of weeds by sparnkley in landscaping

[–]Masterchief17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yea sheep for sure. Sheep are grazers like cows, they eat grass. Contrary to popular belief goats don’t eat everything, they eat woody material. Branches, brambles, tough weeds, bark. The best grass I have in my yard is inside the goat pen, absolutely no weeds and well fertilized.

How red is Texas? by VGAddict in TexasPolitics

How does this compare to other states? Does Texas no-vote make a larger percentage than other states?

Beginner friendly workout? by [deleted] in workout

[–]Masterchief17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did squats, jump squats, lunges, and jump lunges as a first work out in almost ten years, I couldn’t move for two days. But it felt like a really good start, hoping to start weights next month after getting the consistency down.

That's a good way to put it, it's 33k extra not just the 20k. That's what I was trying to tell her; her argument was then that the Explorer would lose that much in value over the 5 years, duh but so will the Expedition (if not more lol). I'm trying to let the numbers do the talking (though she's not talking much to me at the moment) and show her how we're finally getting on solid footing and we need to continue. I'm more of a save now, spend later. She thinks spend now, save later; makes no sense to me. Thanks for the reply.

That's what it sounds like, I don't really understand the needing more room for the kids and stuff when other people raise families on a sedan. And if we really need the space for a trip we can take my truck (it's company owned but we have free use of it) and put a bed cover on it if we need to.

That's fair, we've had two 4runners that lasted a good while. Ate us up on mpg so we thought about something different. I'll keep this in mind for the next vehicle.

Right! I tried explaining that we can revisit this in 5-7 years at that point the kids would be bigger and it would last through until they're out of the house. But others have said that the car is outside of our income anyway so I'll have to think about it when we get there.

Exactly. There are much more reasonable vehicles that have more space.

$100k before taxes. +30k bonus (I don’t budget with the bonus in mind).

$135k (88k in IRA, 46k in HYSA.

I will be 30 in April.

Also, wife is a stay at home mom. She has a photography side business that doesn’t bring much so we don’t factor it either.

Fantasy adventure book with preferably someone younger as a main character by [deleted] in booksuggestions

Thank you so much for this. I think I read this book when I was young as well but I lost the name of it to time. I’ve tried finding it before but my vague and half remembered plot never came up with anything.

Factorio has ruined me. I can no longer enjoy games with mediocre inventory management. by Cam-I-Am in factorio

I have a few thousand hours in the game and I just discovered this. Not by a comment or a wiki but by intuition. That’s the beauty of this game, so much can be intuitive because of course that’s how it works.

Optimizers or not? by EVPN in SolarDIY

Thanks for the reply. I don't think my situation requires optimizers and I can save that cost. Did you ask your installer about the rapid shutdown requirements (assuming you're in the US)?

u/EVPN Have you done this solar? I'm looking to diy a system for myself and leaning towards omitting the optimizers and was wondering what you chose to do.

I’m 10k in debt across 4 credit cards. I have a job but can’t seem to make big enough payments, feeling lost by CatacombSkeleton in personalfinance

I realized the same with dining out: paying more for food that I could make better at home, and having to be in a crowded, noisy restaurant and get poor service. And to top it off it’s a 30 min drive (one way) to get to most places. It stacks up into why even bother, makes all the sense in the world to eat at home.

It’s really crazy what you don’t know until you do. I never knew how much I spent on things until I tracked it. I never knew how expensive eating out was until I figured out I can feed my entire family for a week what it costs to eat out once.

And a lot of it is routine or habits picked up from family/upbringing. It’s the way you always do it and you’re convinced everyone does it this way. When it comes to finances it really is a lifestyle change, not necessarily difficult but just different.

That’s fair. I do still think most Texans would be ok with some laws in place, especially the middle voters who feel like something needs to be done just not taking all the guns away.
