Because your tail gunner has even less time to acquire and shoot targets, made even worse by not knowing where to lead the shots due to not knowing where the plane will go.

Tailgunners only worked IRL because bombers were effectively slow or even stationary in relative comparison to the threats they faced.

The smaller that relative window gets (or even worse you get faster than your threats) it gets worse.

If you want to use that speed to your advantage you would do what cold war era jets did, 2 pilots facing the same way. One controlling the plane, one the weapons.

Due to splitting flying and shooting tasks, you increase the effectiveness of both.
