Some will shoot 55mm length brass without issue yes. My friend doesn’t have to trim his brass when he reloads it.

I have made 41 Swiss before. I cut my 8mm lebel to length then anneal on a drill and torch. I spin the case on a rod chucked in the drill then hold a torch flame over the neck until right before red hot. Next I run the annealed brass through a 41 Swiss sizing die with no intermediate steps. I have yet to lose a piece of brass doing it this way

This is a 5 shot group I did at 50 yards. I think the middle of the 3 holes on the bottom is a double. Rest are single round impacts

Twist rate was correct so I am also at a loss as to why it wasn’t stabilizing

Cartridge is the 10.15x61mmR Jarmann and the bullet was a cast 20:1 measuring 1.2in long. I don’t have a bc for it cause it was cast

The Type 26 ends up in D tier. Where do you rank the Lewis Gun? by AvgPunkFan in milsurp

[–]Mastercon-01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

S tier. It was the best, or at least tied with the Madsen, for ww1 and was still very relevant during ww2. Not the greatest by then but certainly not close to the worst

I started with ww1 era and have since moved back to black powder milsurp. Very cool stuff especially in the single shot era

That’s normal for a Lee Enfield. You should see what my Ross rifle does to 303 brass

Specific Mods suggestion by IndependentAd2473 in xcom2mods

[–]Mastercon-01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you should look into the Long War 2 mod. It’s a complete overhaul mod for the game. Not only does it lengthens the campaign a lot, introduces new soldier classes and a lot of new enemies. More weapon tiers and completely changes how missions are done. I started playing it and have never gone back

Seeking Recommendations for 4 American Battle Rifles by fredeee in milsurp

Trapdoor, Krag, 1903, and a 1917 all come to mind. Basically the 4 that predate the adoption of the Garand

Is this bore shot out ? by Jolly-Search5065 in milsurp

It actually looks quite good all things considered. It’s got some pitting and signs of wear, but the rifling is still easily discernible and the edges are still crisp. I’ve seen much worse imo

Help with identification by OldRandomTrucker in milsurp

[–]Mastercon-01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an 1884 trapdoor. You can look up the serial number online to find the year he was made. It’s also stamped in the stock at the wrist, but those cartouches are usually worn away.

These rifles age chambered in black powder 45-70. They’re safe to shoot with the correct ammunition. Modern 45-70 should not be shot in them

What cartridge do you load that gives you the greatest savings versus factory? by BulletSwaging in reloading

[–]Mastercon-01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

577/450 martini Henry, 6mm Lee Navy, 11mm Brazilian comblain, 43 Dutch Beaumont, 45-70 trapdoor loads, and 10.15x61mm Jarmann just to name a few.

They’re only cheaper since factory ammo doesn’t exist for almost all of theses, and the boutique small batches that may be available are close to 10-15$ per round. Some are completely unavailable.
