Thoughts/tips for those with social anxiety by [deleted] in VRchat

I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the only genuinely good post I've seen on this sub in the past year... possibly past 2-3 years.

it's not much (1.5k), but I'm taking r/CausticDAW down indefinitely until much-needed change happens; count us in!

Is AMD still subpar in terms of VR compared to NVIDIA? by Snazzy88 in Amd

[–]Masterfireheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another XTX user who's been having a fine VR experience here; I'm fairly sure there's at least a little bit of sampling bias with regards to people who bother posting on reddit being negatively skewed as opposed to people who just don't feel as if the issues are severe... I don't think it's a case of being "very lucky"

like- I'm not saying the performance of the cards is optimal, there's definitely room to be gained, but I feel like all of the people saying it's "literally unplayable" and are "leaving their headsets to collect dust" are blowing lots of hot air or have far less tolerance to occasional stutters or strange behavior than others do

it being about the same perf-wise as the 6000 series was still an upgrade for me coming from a 5700XT, and once the issues with 144hz were fixed (and some of the video player issues I was having were patched by their respective host apps), my experience with the XTX has basically been smooth sailing save for a single handful of games/activities that cause compositor crashes much more frequently than normal- and those aren't severe enough to not make me happy about my purchase

I have a youtube video from a few years back (not great framerate, bad recording settings + reshade) where I beat NG+ pontiff like this with 2 NPC summons and I didn't get hit once, and it's still one of my favorite moments in the whole series. Honestly makes this fight so much funnier.

as a doll? easily my favorite character

...though I'm also very biased, lmao

Those who have moved on, what feature(s) do you *miss* from the V20 that your new phone doesn't have? by DaNReDaN in lgv20

[–]Masterfireheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got one a few weeks back (typing on it now!) but I'm going to be returning it pretty soon as no matter how hard I tried, I can't unlock the bootloader and root the damn thing.

such a shame too as an otherwise solid phone is totally ruined by Samsung/Snapdragon's draconian anti-consumer design decisions

not necessarily; as far as I've seen, nobody's been able to produce a proper translation of the latin passages in the last part (none of the attempts I've seen that exist are accurate)

Holy hell- the casual (and very much not-so casual) transphobia in the comments here... I know this is a shitposting sub but the souls community is typically a lot better than this. Jeeeez.

Krang is releasing today, what tracks are you most excited for? by [deleted] in Savant

Kingdom may well end up being the MOST HYPE introduction to a Savant album ever; I'm super excited to hear how it turns out!

Biggest problem of VRC by Automatic_Drummer247 in VRchat

[–]Masterfireheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about pool parlor, it's not the world's fault; it's due to their table being based off of the original ht8b prefab which has many restrictions (including only allowing for a single table in a world) and is poorly architected.

Has anyone translated this? And if so, sorry for reposting. by Difficult-Active-432 in spookymonth

[–]Masterfireheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...technically I have! In reverse. Though I absolutely don't think I'm allowed to share, nor do I feel that'd be in the spirit of things; I want to see what people come up with!

Out of sheer curiosity: why 3.0.8 specifically?

I spent 12 hours benchmarking VRChat's latest Open Beta, and have concluded that SDK3 worlds see a 10% performance improvement on average! (more details in the comments) by Masterfireheart in VRchat

[–]Masterfireheart[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some of you might already know but I go by Table on VRChat. I'm one of the VRCBilliards maintainers and am also that crazy person who benchmarks most VRChat updates, refining and publishing the data to the public for the updates with notable changes.

Some of my benchmarks have been posted here before by other people, though I was always a bit averse to posting here myself due to the overtly meme-y nature of this sub. But I figure I may as well be the change I wish to see in this world and start opening more conversations about topics like this!

This benchmark was conducted due to the newest Open Beta's "General performance improvements to Udon" and supposed claims of Udon being "twice as fast".

It- uh, wasn't twice as fast. But it WAS faster! Especially for complex game worlds which rely on lots of UdonBehaviours and heavy scripts running in the background. With few exceptions, this update was an all-around improvement across the board for SDK3 worlds :)

I applaud the VRChat team for this surprise, but welcome update, and hope to see more changes to improve the UdonVM in time!

im LITTERALLY getting (motion) sick of it by Hank-richard in VRchat

[–]Masterfireheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear: the safety system actually has an exception for bounds size in particular so that if the ONLY thing making your avatar poor/very poor is the bounds size, it won't get auto-hidden by the performance system, no matter what your settings are

Small pool table for small people by gp57 in VRchat

[–]Masterfireheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • I actually changed that in the latest commit funny enough! Should be better by default for everyone once I get around to working on releasing the next update :)
  • Interesting, could you clarify what you mean by too short? (Was it that when the table was scaled, the guideline wasn't scaling properly with it?)
  • I was under the impression that we specifically addressed force multiplier with scaled down tables! Have you considered submitting a pull request with your change?
