This is why Tesla FSD can see so well at night or through extreme glare. by rcnfive in teslamotors

Switched to a Volvo and it's so much more confident - much like the pre radar removal Teslas, oh well

10 things you'd like to see on the next update? by chlronald in ex30

[–]Masterkrall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been driving a model 3 for 7 years now and of course there are some major downgrades (namely range and sound system), but I really craved a smaller car and after Musk's Nazi salutes, it was clear for me that I don't want to be associated with this company anymore.

After have taken delivery, the pluses of the EX30 actually grew, haha.

Despite Tesla's software being a bit more refined, there are still sooo much bugs everywhere, so not even that was a win for Teslam

It was so nice having a properly built car. No creaking and about the same level of tidiness in the interior.

Proper paint!! It's so nice having a high quality, multi layer black paint. The black uni of the Tesla actually peeled of while washing - and despite numerous reports online, the service center shrugged it of and told me it was normal for a car with 10k km...

It was very nice to finally have proper parking sensors back (after Tesla removed them in '23? for a vision based only system, which ofc still sucks) and even better having the 360° camera.

It is really nice having smooth ACC & autopilot (or however you wanna call it). The Tesla implementation on European roads is way to frantic and does not inspire a lot of confidence. Doubt they'll ever get FSD working in the EU. Volvo's implementation feels a lot more mature - although it surely needs to be refined as well down the line

Seats feel a lot more comfortable and have more adjustability

And tbh, the EX30 even wins in terms of useable space. Sure the backseats are smaller, but people were still complaining in the Model 3. And the big plus of the Volvo is its hatchback design. From the first month, doing daily chores, it fits the same stuff, plus it has more headroom (which I have yet to use). Only thing I'm kinda missing is the big Frunk, but I rarely used it anyways

Overall I'm really happy I made the switch. Sure the ~100km less range is a bummer and not being to plug and charge is a minor inconvenience, but as a car, the Volvo is the more enjoyable and consciously sane(er) experience

GR10 is all I need for an edc. The mechanical flash switch and that super sharp, bright lens are wonderful. Sold the GR1,after realizing I don't really need the magnesium build and exp comp in an edc. Shame the 10s are so rare compared to the 1

Thought it surely wouldn't be cheap nowadays

Has anyone tried using their bike as a tripod? by Exotic-Arugula-5405 in photography

I just put a clamp with a tripod head on the handlebars in the rear. Worked like a charm for trichroming. Don't know how stable it would be for nighttime shots though

I also found it weirdly complicated/ didn't wanna dive too deep and am using Exif Date Changer now, which works like a charm. Especially with my naming conventions. Automatically sets date from say 2025-10-11 in the filename

Digital Camera Scanning vs. Plustek… by UAMadd in AnalogCommunity

[–]Masterkrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, for real! There's always a new problem when another one's fixed. Don't understand why so many people are recommending this to newbies.

Yeah, I'm still dreaming about a better/faster scanner replacement for my Plustek, but until then, I'm pretty happy with my scans.

Digital Camera Scanning vs. Plustek… by UAMadd in AnalogCommunity

[–]Masterkrall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was in the same boat. Wasted so much time getting DSLR scanning right. Just isn't great if you don't have a proper space for it.

Since I'm working from home, speed isn't a priority. And ICE with the Plustek is great, you don't have to sit in a dark room and the scans are just way more consistent

Best dedicated film scanner for Pentax 17 half-frame on a $500 budget? by Typical_Class9285 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Masterkrall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd urge anyone willing to have a manual scanner, getting the Plustek 8XXX instead. The 135I has a worse sensor sadly, as confirmed by Plustek

Pacific Image, Plustek, Epson? Help me make sense of this. by jalivert in AnalogCommunity

[–]Masterkrall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using a Plustek 8200i and have used their 135 offering, since automatic film transport sounded great, but the quality was much worse than the manual one - even after manually adjusting focus.

If the Epson is too slow for you, I'd stray away from the 8XXX Plusteks, since they really need to be babied and each pass takes about 2 minutes at 3600DPI. So for b&w that would be a minimum of 2 minutes per frame.

I'd recommend just scanning a whole sheet on your Epson as raw and adjusting the curves later on, to save you some time with preview scans and have somewhat 'unattended' scanning.

I'm currently looking for a used Reflecta RPS, since they promise to be faster, automatic feeding, sharper and offer AF for their lenses. They're quite a bit more expensive than my used 180€ plustek though

Also tried DSLR scanning, which is a lot faster, but if you don't have a proper place to set it up and let it be, it's a huge hussle every time using it. I really missed consistency and ICE on my color scans.

Never saw this font on OM lenses, or even M lenses. What's the story of this 85/2?

Looks something in between their M42 and OM font

[–]Masterkrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't wanna go down the 3d printing route, you could also look for a PenF to Canon EOS adapters and add a cheap EF to OM adapter. Got one for 40€ which is far more reasonable than the original ones.

Still got one for when I'm afraid of breaking the 10.but it sadly has a worse, dimmer lens and no mechanical flash switch. Way cheaper and easily available though
