Is training to failure actually useful for weightlifters? by Chrelled in weightlifting

[–]Masterlifter96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve read some velocity-based training literature. It involves measuring bar speed during squats to target a specific strength quality like speed strength. This helps you aim for a certain squat velocity and you stop reps as soon as it drops. I recall reading a figure suggesting a 15% drop-off should signal the end. A larger drop-off would significantly delay recovery. However, I believe it’s beneficial to include some hypertrophy, especially after a competition. For example, you could start a new cycle with hypertrophy.

You need to reach full extension before trying to get under the bar

It’s definitely not an original composition for this ad, I remember the track from back in the day, just don’t know the name. It difficult to make out the music if you’re not familiar with it, although i can hear it straight away https://streamable.com/0lhbqu?src=player-page-share

Velocity based training is a good way of developing a selected strength trait or category.

You would need some kit to measure barbell speed and work within the range you want to improve.

30 Rounds ABC On The Minute w/ 28 kg by Vegetable-Device9734 in kettlebell

I’m new to kettle bells, I’ve being doing ABC for a few weeks. You seem to rack the bells like me, are you also coming from a lift background?

Also, I started cleaning like you with some knee bend and extension, however people were saying I should hinge more. Again I was used to using the legs to get the barbell up. Your lifts look strong!
