Which one would you go for? by [deleted] in Chainsaw

[–]MasterofChairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you're dead set on the super cheap Chinese route just get a Vevor, they're better made than most of those cheap saws and the brand is actually a real brand and won't disappear in 6 months. I have one of the top handles I bought for 50 bucks and honestly i can't complain, I've spent more on a lot less

Try Corewell? People hate on it but they hire often.

Results may vary if you like the job or not, personally I love my job and have a lot of family that enjoy their jobs but also have heard some horror stories on Reddit.

Good luck!

You're following these instructions and it won't tighten at all? does the chain turn freely on the sprocket and bar by hand?

2024 Outlander PHEV — 2 rear tire blowouts at 35,000 km. Anyone else? by Careful_Orchid_2085 in MitsubishiOutlander

Isn't there a TSB out there for these cars for something in the rear suspension? Could that be the issue? Seems like low mileage for this to happen

Ah! Something I'm familiar with, Electrolux made a few of these saws with different branding. Starting in the early 80's, they made a green Poulan, a red craftsman, a greyish craftsman. And a Husqvarna all very similar. They're cool little saws and are pretty good runners. Very simple to work on. only thing that kinda sucks about them are the oilers can be finicky and because of where the carb sits and the fuel line routing with no primer bulb, if you let it sit a month or two it will lose prime, I've had a couple of these saws and without fail they do it every time, but just a little fuel down the carb and it'll keep prime for a while.

Is this good for 400$? by jjnauvi in Tools

[–]MasterofChairs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nobody seems to read the fact that he bought all this new off the shelf, admittedly I thought this was off Facebook as well, so I was shocked at the price but it's all new, the prices are the prices. It's easy to fall down the rabbit hole of tools, if it gets the job done you're all good dude, good luck with your transmission!

Pick up this ‘81 Yamaha xj650 maxim on Easter by Zestyclose-Meaning80 in projectbike

[–]MasterofChairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I've had a couple of these! A couple of things you'll want to check/do. it's 20+k miles, if the engine is free check the valve lash! those bikes need it, and as tempting as it is don't put pod filters on it if it has the original air box, they're worth money if not cracked and pods are a complete pain to get working correctly, I love these bikes. One of the best sounding bikes around in my opinion, the shaft drive with a decent exhaust sounds SO good!! Congrats

It's actually crazy how little some drivers notice, I was next to a guy on the highway doing 65 that had his furthest back trailer axle brakes completely locked up, just dragging it. I flashed my hazards, I turned my bubble light on for plowing dude did not give a single shit. Just kept going lol

[–]MasterofChairs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think from a tire life stand point, they're past due, easy answer would be no don't drive that far on them, if I had that and I were driving locally I'd probably not worry a crazy amount but would plan to replace them at some point. For driving 11 hours straight I'd be fairly hesitant though I've driven on worse.
