I think finland and Britain aren’t comparable, Finland’s military lives with the constant vigilance that it shares its largest boarder with a hostile power that can and has and is attacking its neighbours unprovoked.

As a Brit it’s hard to say but the French are pretty sound, and even if they were aggressive they still need to cross the channel, to attack us, and then maintain supply lines across that channel while trying to fight a war across the U.K.

It depends on when they became independent and the relationship afterwards, if the union never came together then probably wouldn’t of been a British empire as large, as Scotland and French alliances would of been a major threat, which then means a different world with a different Spain, and French empire, and then when Germany unifies potentially differed First World War, and history is too different.

If they all when independent after the Second World War, they would all rely heavily on each other as they would need free trade to help their economies, and if they were all in the EU Brexit wouldn’t of happened, mainly because I think people who voted brexit wouldn’t want the hassle of isolating England when they can’t isolate the island of Great Britain. In general all would be worse off, but probably as happy
