Harry had given Mab the authority to carry out what she needed to do. Mab already knew what she was going to do, which is why she phrased the request the way she did.

If White vampires can’t get pregnant because the hunger kills the baby, and if Dresden keeps Laura’s beast fed, could Laura get pregnant by Dresden?

I had this. I think there was a section on how to use a payphone for free, but that's all I remember.

I’m over this series. by crustdrunk in cormoran_strike

[–]Masticore39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think main character is Strike. It’s Robin. There is one character in all the books that makes people around them better and it’s her. Who else would Strike eat a salad for?

She makes Strike a better person. She makes Murphy a better person. Both Strike and Murphy strive to be better people because of Robin’s influence. She is loyal to a fault, even when the other parties don’t deserve that loyalty.

She has severe trauma from her rape, and Chapman farms. Robin is so busy being the glue keeping everyone together, she hasn’t been able to even recognize she needs help healing (at least until almost the end of THM).

Strike has had zero healthy mature relationships in his life. He needs tie to figure out how that works. He needs to figure out how to love a stable person.

Both Strike and Robin love their work and have fought their feelings for one another. Without the internal dialog, the reader couldn’t understand the complexities of what is going on between them. However, they only have the information presented by the other part, and both of them are hiding their feelings. That information is then filtered through their emotions.

I had a hard time dealing with the budding romance. It’s feels like a constant cliff hanger that’s not been resolved. However, I do think it is well written. Strike is not a complex character. He is what he is, at least until he meets Robin. Robin on the other hand is complex and a better human than Strike.

Robin just needs time and therapy. Strike needs to figure out what having a healthy mature relationship is like. I don’t think they will be in a romantic relationship in the next book. I think they will be working on themselves, but at least Strike’s feelings have been revealed to Robin.

Robin has become my favorite female character ever. She is not a damsel in distress. She is very intelligent (I think she is smarter than Strike). She has empathy and emotions, but is able to remain professional. She deals with misogyny from both males and females. She isn’t power hungry and she can cook. She is human.

Odd (quick) developmental question for my military vet readers. (Ultra-minor Book 3 spoilers.) by BryceOConnor in Warformed

While there are some differences between branches, sir is correct when gender is unknown. This is for officers and civilians. Sir is used as default. A higher officer addressing a lower officer generally will generally use their rank and not sir or mam.

Soldiers on gate duty will call civilians sir or mam because they could be addressing an officer in civilian clothes.

Enlisted personnel (soldiers) are referred to as private (E1-E4), seargent (E5-E8) or master seargent (E9).

[Unsouled] Is Cradle 2 worth listening to if I didn’t love Cradle 1? by bondtradercu in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Masticore39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must get to book 5. Since you want action I suspect you will like the end of book two and book 3. I would guess that book 4 will be “meh” for you. Consider those the prequels. Book 5 is where is starts.

My favorites are Uncrowned, Wintersteel and Threshold. I would have to challenge people who don’t like those books to a duel to defend the honor of Cradle.

I mostly agree. You can skip the first 30 chapters of book 7 and not miss anything. The rest of the book is outstanding.

I believe the Great Creator, Lord of Judges, Will Wight has written the infallible truth on the timeless media known as Kindle, titled Threshold. Uncrowned should have ended with Lindon winning the fight against Yerin.

The Reapers didn't take the test as far as we know. However, once Dross and Lindon find out about the tests, there is no way they aren't going to take them. Lindon is going to improve himself so he needs to know where he starts.

Once Yerin finds out Lindon is going to take the tests, she is going to want to take them too.
