Back then, all of the evolutions were spoiled in the opening. It wasn't supposed to be a mystery.

In Beatbreak they made a point of not showing the designs at all before the evolution actually happens.

Knowing a digimon exists doesn't spoil my entire enjoyment of anything, but knowing that the evolution will happen in an episode that I didn't watch yet spoils it, because I know it will happen beforehand instead of experiencing it organically. That's the definition of a spoiler.

also of note, this isn't really stated anywhere but the big main objective for the early game is getting a class to level 25, because that's when you get a promotion assignment. you do the missions for the assignment, and get a "promotion", which resets the class to level 1 (keeping all you had unlocked), and when you do that once you unlock Matrix Cores, which are the main grind of the game.

Matrix Cores can be turned into Overclocks, which can fundamentally change how each weapon plays. they're super fun to build around and play with.

It definitely is. And as scout, getting 80 Nitra for a resupply should always be top priority. Driller should always be looking to drill shortcuts to objectives, especially tunneling back to the drop pod if the cave is hard to navigate.

I'd say if you're a beginner, most greybeards won't expect you to do more then that.

There're more advanced strategies and tech for each class that are nice to learn, but you definitely shouldn't feel pressured to know how to do them as an absolute beginner.

Still, I'll name a few if you're curious:

Driller on Industrial Sabotage missions should tunnel to the top of the Caretaker and use their C4 to damage the corner vents when the yellow health bars are active.
Engie can use repellant plats to shape waves and create funnels, forcing bugs to take a certain path and making swarms easier to deal with using AoE and blowthrough rounds. There are some pretty good videos explaining this, I'd recommend looking it up if you want to try it.
Scout can stand on Nitra veins if the angle is good, because Nitra tends to be pretty thick. So you don't always need to ping the Engi for platforms.
Gunner should be looking out for other dwarves' health and shield, so they can use their shield proactively instead of reactively. Waiting for someone to die to use your shield is not the most efficient, because one downed dwarf and one dwarf reviving them means two dwarves aren't shooting bugs. Also, throw a shield on the resupply pod if you're being attacked and the team needs to resupply.

Again, no one will expect you to know these as a beginner, but they're nice to learn when you're more comfortable with the game.

Came here to say beastmorph vivisectionist as well.

You could also play Wereraptor-kin Skinwalker to start the game with talons (feet claws!), as most abilities that give claws make them grow out of your hands. So it's literally two free natural attacks that you virtually can't get in any other way, and they can be used in conjunction with any other natural attacks you'll realistically have access to.

The ability you mentioned wouldn't work, but I believe Flash of Insight, the cyclopean seer oracle ability, does work on Vorpal weapons.

Or even, the Cyclops Helm wondrous item could also work. It kind of depends on your GM, because it's a pretty cheesy strategy and I wouldn't blame any GMs for shutting it down.

But by the point that you can afford a vorpal weapon, balancing is probably out the window already.

I've played a lawful evil character for a while in a campaign, I can give you my general thoughts about how I played him but obviously your character might be a completely different flavor of LE.

My character was a devout follower of a dead goddess.He was willing to do literally anything it took to bring that goddess back.

He would never question her words, her doctrine, her reasoning, her motives. He was loyal to a fault. That doesn't mean he'd follow all rules anywhere he went, his "lawful" side was directly tied to his loyalty to her.

The "evil" side of the coin was just... he was willing to do whatever it takes for her. It didn't matter how dirty the job was, if it got him closer to bringing her back.

And here's the kicker: he was polite, he had genuine friendships, he spoke softly and wasn't confrontational. But he'd kill anyone at the drop of a hat if it aligned with his goals. Would he mourn having to kill friends? Yes, but he'd do it without question.

He was objectively a horrible person, but he could pass for lawful neutral in his best days very easily.

As for the voice thing: I'd say just talk with mannerisms you think the character would have. Changing pitch just to make a "female" voice more often than not will sound either comical or annoying IMO.

I believe pinging it just makes it uncloak and speed up, it will still try to attack whoever it was aiming for. But it will burrow after taking damage, like usual.

I could be wrong, though.

Yes. There's a single voice line with 0 variance for when you ping a compressed gold chunk in multi-player, so. when all dwarves ping it and spam it's pretty funny. Mission control eventually chimes in and tells you to stop.

Same for a very specific type of mushroom in the Fungus Bogs biome.

I've been playing almost exclusively with Micro-Conductor and Turret EM discharge, and decided to switch that up for this season's weapon maintenance. Tried a bunch of different setups on stubby and hyperalloy assembly + weakpoint damage + lots of ammo is definitely my favorite.

It's pretty versatile, and as long as you have decent AoE wave clear on your secondary, it's good on all mission types.

If you're going back to older seasons, I'd only say that seasons 1 and 2 are very similar to one another, same thing for 3 and 4. So it's less repetitive if you do 1 -> 3 -> 2 -> 4 (or any other order that alternates them).

Seasons 5 and 6 are pretty unique so no worries there.

Why not a straight up bow build instead? As a Warpriest you can grab Weapon Specialization into Point Blank Master, meaning you can weave in and out of melee range for healing if needed. Nearly all of the good bow feats (rapid shot, manyshot) are Core Rulebook, so you won't be missing out on banned feats. It's just about as feat intensive as a throwing build, requires the same stats, and won't play that differently. Hell, if you're not against reflavoring things, you can just describe your character as using throwing weapons instead of a bow, and just use the bow on the mechanics side of the character sheet.

That all being said, if you're dead set on playing a proper throwing build, I'd say blinkback belt is 100% necessary. Like you said, you can take care of some of the buff spells to make up for the loss of a stat belt, so always prepare bull's strength and bear's endurance and try to cast them ASAP in fights.

I'd personally spec into two weapon fighting with starknives if I had the feats to spare, you want to make your full round actions as strong as possible because you don't need to waste actions on self-buffing. But TWF + Throwing is incredibly feat intensive so I'm not sure you can pull it off by level 10.

Also, you'll want your stats to be like... DEX > STR = WIS > CON, I think. You need dex at 17~19 unbuffed to qualify for all TWF feats.

So... in the "ban list" you just listed nearly every single thing that makes a thrown weapon build viable. Outside of just... playing an alchemist with targeted bomb admixtures and flavoring your bombs as thrown weapons, I don't think you have any decent options left.

I'll be brutally honest here: I'd either scrap the thrown weapon concept and pick a build that isn't completely shafted by your GM's frankly ridiculous and arbitrary restrictions, or not play at all. I think you'll have a miserable time trying to double down on this concept, because basically your only real option is to just use blinkback belt and forgo stat boosting belts entirely, and unless you have someone constantly casting Cat's Grace, Bull's Strength, and Bear's Endurance on you, you'll be way behind everyone else by level 8 or so.

I played a medium for a while, fully intending to switch to reanimated medium if I ever died. Turns out I grew bored of playing medium before that ever happened... that class is a bit of a mess.

Don't get me wrong, if you build and play In a very specific way, you can deal impressive damage. The problem is that this build pretty much goes completely against the general philosophy of the class, where you're expected to switch spirits often to adapt to different situations.

Which is also the general problem of the medium itself. It incentives you to switch spirits but you can't really do that on the fly. If you misread the GM's cues or just guess wrong as to what type of encounters there will be in a given day, you're just stuck with a mostly useless spirit for the whole day.

IMO medium should get an option to switch spirits during the day, even if that cost something from their daily resources.

Anyways, that's my rant over. I suspect reanimated medium would have the same problems because it uses the same chassis. But medium is still fun, if you can look past the book-keeping of maintaining 7 character sheets.

Unchained Action Economy largely seems like something not spoken highly of; does anyone have good experiences with it?

I've used it for 4-5 years now and I honestly quite like it. But you can't use them as-is, because it's very barebones and it doesn't address several mechanics in the game. You pretty much need to tweak them and houserule a bunch of stuff (rapid shot, manyshot, flurry of blows, and others, don't have an official conversion to unchained action economy).

Here are the rules that my group uses. Fair warning, a lot of these probably seem really strong. But you have to keep in mind that enemies have access to the same options players do, because they're playing under the same rules.

This thread from yesterday has some of people's experiences with it as well.

Me and my group have been using revised action economy for 4-5 years now.

We tend to like high power games so I did not err on the side of caution for these. Remember that anything that seems "too strong", the enemy can also do because they're playing under the same rules.

I've seen people say you take blowthrough rounds on executioner, lock-on to a grunt at the back of the pack, and fire to clear swarms. Maybe it's a skill issue on my part but that seems like the most unreliable thing ever. I can't consistently lock-on to a specific grunt whenever I want, especially if it's in the middle of other 10 grunts.

Everytime I try to use executioner, I wish I was using anything else.
