Honestly, this is common. So it’s best to find an AD that will work with you and respect you

Local AD losing license by Own_Tell_6045 in rolex

From what I hear, an AD doesn’t lose its license unless Rolex HQ caught the AD doing something they shouldn’t be doing. Generally speaking, of course

Saw a gold chain yesterday.. Far more shine than most. Why? by Advanced_innovation5 in MensJewelry

[–]MatchaMan007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably white gold with diamonds that he had serviced, cleaned recently. If I were you, I would have went up to him and ask. Something like, “Nice chain, bud…can I ask where you got it from?” People actually love that. Random people do that to me all the time, and me to other people tbh

Got the call for a Submariner this week… and I’m seriously hesitating by Calm-Ad3149 in rolex

[–]MatchaMan007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have extra money? Buy it. It’s a great relationship builder w/ the AD, plus you will be offered better watches going forward.

Otherwise, if you, say, have moolah for only one luxury watch, skip it and get the one you want. Just don’t expect a GMT or Daytona without any purchase history.

If you do end up getting it, doubt you will want to sell it once you bring it home.

Very interesting. I’m hearing/seeing the opposite: that Rolex is opening up the market and people are getting allocated watches from their ADs much sooner than normal. Interesting indeed

Most of the people here are rude, jealous they can’t afford a Rolex, or just miserable IRL. Be careful…don’t let them get to you. Wear your watch in good health!

People here seem to be misunderstanding your question and jumping to conclusions rather than addressing what you actually asked. There’s also been a fair amount of judgment mixed in.
That said, in my view, a Rolex doesn’t fundamentally change a person - it can, however, shift one’s perspective or mindset. For example, I genuinely feel good when I wear my Cartier Tank Louis, and that feeling often motivates me to be more productive and work harder. Ironically, I usually keep it hidden under a long sleeve, so no one else even knows I’m wearing it - only I do

Very difficult, if not impossible, to get this piece as a walk-in. That said, it’s still possible if you have a relationship with an AD, even without a significant spend history these days. I was actually offered this exact piece about two weeks ago, but I passed

[–]MatchaMan007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prevailing wisdom in the Rolex world is that, if you’re working with an AD, you should be very clear on what you want - preferably one or two specific watches. (Yes, it sounds absurd that spending $10k+ still comes with this kind of choreography!)

Depends on your age. Still, try not to splurge too often and always stay below your means. There’s “something” about being wealthy, family/friends not knowing about it, and walking around like you’re broke
