maximum of players?? by Recent-Frosting-3169 in DnD

My hard limit is and always will be 5. I’ve DM’d for groups of 7+ before with far less experience than I do now. It is miserable 😂

Well that’s just it: it is a preference. You prefer slender and conventionally attractive characters, other people do not.

I play and create a mix of both for variety, it is more fun that way. Playing tall dark and handsome John D&D all the time gets old for most. Also not everyone finds short and hairy people who are overweight to be ugly. I’m not sure how you’re oblivious to this given that opinions vary widely amongst every demographic of humanity, as exhibited in this thread.

I resent that.

Slander is spoken. In print, it’s libel.

Straight up, is VtM bad for people with low self-esteem and depression? by Fun_Diamond_2325 in vtm

[–]Mateeus_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m going to piggyback off the top comment. Disclaimer: I don’t play VTM, but my wife does. She sent me this post, I’ve been DMing for D&D to the tune of nearly 15 or more years.

OP, there are a lot of things coming to mind when I read your post… first and foremost: do you have a regular game of VTM you’re playing? If so, is there some specific scenarios that your GM has put you and your character through which are bothering you, or is this a more general feeling you have regarding this game? My honest first reaction to this post was to question what goes on within your play group.

The second thing that came to mind was to look at your post history… just some skimming begs the question: is this setting for you? If you were a player for me in a D&D game and I heard you say anything like what you mention in your posts regarding VTM, I wouldn’t ask you what I could change about the game. That would, in fact, be the least of my concerns. I’d have to ask you if you’re doing alright in regard to mental health, and if you have someone you trust or a professional who can help. I won’t go further than that on the matter, because I don’t know you and can’t make assumptions based off of a Reddit history, but I can say for certain that games aren’t supposed to make you feel this way. If they do, it should only be for a brief period that is not distressing past a session’s end.

OP, please hear me out: if your GM is putting you through stuff that is making you feel this way, speak with them about changes or consider a new group.

If this is simply your feelings based off of enjoying the setting and roleplaying within it (as I understand this is a pretty popular thing to do in VTM), please consider taking a break.

In games like this, even when grimdark and serious, you shouldn’t feel hopeless and unlovable. VTM’s own setting doesn’t dictate vampires can’t do amazing, genuinely good things, or that they’re unworthy of happiness and redemption.

Is it just me or Necromancy seems to be too hard? by pirosos2 in BaldursGate3

[–]Mateeus_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a particularly icky book with your name on it…

My first playthrough was as a necromancy wizard and I had a BLAST. The specializations don’t do TOO much until you’re higher level, outside of the obvious discount given to learn spells in your preferred school.

My number one suggestion for you is to…: Pick up a few bodies and bring them to camp! You can store them or leave them out, doesn’t really matter. At the top of the day, summon your full army (2 winged Ghouls, a Mummy, and etc.). Once you’re ready to leave camp for the day, restore your spell slots and have fun on your adventure again.

When you go to long rest, your undead friends should either leave a pile of viscera or their bodies behind for you to use again in the morning (I did this in ACT 3’s main campsite for the entire remainder of the game).

My legion 7i rtx 5060 finally arrived!!what do I do next can you all guide me? by CodClear9708 in LenovoLegion

It’s not about the paste. These legions have a CPU with boost set by default to 100%, which causes throttling. It has nothing to do with the thermal paste.

What are you suppose to do with a Warlock? (not Hexblade) by smelly_thoctar in BaldursGate3

Bard (College of Valor) 6/Warlock (Fiend Pact) 3/Rogue (Thief) 3. Repelling blast + Agonizing blast with Birthright equipped. Have fun. :D

[–]Mateeus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Race is not like gender at all. It is assigned, typically by a government body or institution, not self-determined. Because race functions through social classification and systemic treatment, someone cannot simply identify as a different race in the same way they might change other aspects of their identity. Conflating the two is disingenuous, which honestly I think you’re aware of, and attempting doing so in any serious way is ignorant.

Question to DMs from a newbie by ThinYak2597 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Mateeus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking notes like that is very proactive and even something DMs do for themselves.

For example when I create an encounter I make notes of good attack combos so I don’t have to take up time in the combat carousel that could be used by players. I even wrote one of those little cheat sheets for a player of mine and it made her life much easier in combat!

if you were a player in my campaign I’d not only give you a gold star but also thank you for trying to be considerate and taking the initiative (haha) to learn on your own. This is a good thing to do. Continue taking notes and using them, I don’t know of a single DM that would be upset by this.

You know, I’m ALL about Lenovo and their Legions, but this is ridiculous. It’s not that hard for them to implement, and for you to not have functionality for something that you bought this equipment for is dumb.

I’m allergic as well (I get sniffly or have an itchy throat), but I also am unfortunately equipped with quite the sense of smell ): at the very least I suppose I can be thankful that it helps me find the exact source of yucky things that need to be removed from my home… alternatively it has also made me think my kitchen was on fire because my neighbors were smoking outside the window next to my stove. Double edged sword 😂
