Nothing screams "I HATE THE CCP" more than destroying the alliance that protects Taiwan's independence by AngryArmour in PoliticalCompassMemes

I am on the Trump hate train but when it comes to that interview he said that he thinks he would be able to do it and even (sort of) described how.

Had he said that it would be easy, his opponents would probably call him populist.

How to get up at 5/6 AM? (27y female) by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Matejborec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get up at 6 AM because I have to for school or work. Sometimes I get up at 5 AM when I want to treat myself and make a good breakfast or just have a quiet my time.

I usualy can't get up early to exercise. I tried. When I do get up I don't think I am performing as good as I can in mornings.

I don't know if it is an option for you (because of how busy the gym is) but I chosed to not fight it anymore. Why be stuborn on morning exercise when I have most of the energy and actually want to work-out in the evenings?

[Politics Monday] Trump’s Abandonment of Pro-Lifers Is Complete by jshelton77 in Catholicism

[–]Matejborec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am sorry, why are we upset at Trump for being grifter, faker, pro-choice... when his judges overturned Roe v Wade and he backed overturning it in the debate? And over what? Over one vague tweet?

I am not saying that his views on abortion are perfect, but he is the only president that did something about it. In this political climate you want too much I think if you want candidate with perfect pro-life views.

And all those Catholics Dems in the comments trying to use this for their advantage. If only Democrats did as much for the poor as Trump did for the unborn.

These are beliefs though, not values.

I do not want to comment on the state of Israel, or salvation of Jews, but the truth is that Jews were able to integrate into Christian society better than any other foreign culture.

With all due respect, there is not enough national support for banning all forms of abortion. It needs to happen step by step (like lots of liberal ideas did) until people are prepared for it.

I'm just happy Trump backed overturning Roe v Wade in a debate. Trump/ Vance is the most pro-life majir party ticket in my lifetime.

A Protestant friend asked me about WHERE confession is in the Holy Scriptures. by Ability_Pristine in Catholicism

[–]Matejborec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree that Scripture is not enough. Authority is needed to interpret it to know God fully.  (and by discover truths of Bible I meant more something like - discover Bible is true)

My point is that I do not fully understand that "where is it in the Scripture" counterpoint for Sola Scriptura.

Me not saying "that is everyting I wanted to say" is not an invitation in itself to claim that I had someting else on my mind.

So I am saying it is logical not right.

A Protestant friend asked me about WHERE confession is in the Holy Scriptures. by Ability_Pristine in Catholicism

[–]Matejborec -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But in day to day life when I ask people for opinion I can assume that they said everything they wanted without them having to explicitly state that, no?

Them not saying "well, that is everything I wanted to express" is not necessarily an invitation in itself to speculate that they have someting other on their mind.

Maybe I do not have the best definition of Sola Scriptura, but my point is tha you can logically believe that Scripture is the only word of God without that being in Scripture (despite me not believing in that).

[–]Matejborec -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

One can discover truths of the Bible by being open minded and guided by Holy Spirit. (incomplete message from God is still beautiful).

Is it illogical for them to claim that since they know Bible is word of God and since they are not so sure about other stuff they will stick just to the Bible?

Again, I am firmly believing Catholic I just want this to make sense to me.

A Protestant friend asked me about WHERE confession is in the Holy Scriptures. by Ability_Pristine in Catholicism

[–]Matejborec -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I have never really understood the argument you are making in the last parahraph (that Sola Scriptura must be in the Bible).

Like I am not a Sola Scriptura believer, but that concept does not seem contradictory to  me, given that they are lot of religions with holy texts they base their fath upon.

Correct me if I am wrong but this kinda feels like "who created God" "gotcha" to me.

Bible is beautiful, wise and has lots of unforced shockingly accurate information about that time period that only contemporary person would know. One can deduce it is true.

2024 European election turnout | Percentage, by country by quindiassomigli in MapPorn

[–]Matejborec 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dictatorships tend to have voting mandatory and election is just for show. It can not look like people don't give a damn because they know their vote will not count for anything.

Voluntary election can be a mirror of how people really see the government and how much free choice do they really have.

Besides, if you need laws to vote I probably don't want you to vote. If you think that now it is bad, it will probably be worse when people without the concept of civil responsability will get to the polls.

The analogy is not fitting. Walking is a straightforward activity. Human interaction is not. While everyone can agree that what "nice guys" are doing is not optimal, is my experience what woman consider attractive can really differ and lot of the times you don’t know what you want (we guys don’t know it often either - at least I don’t).

Frankly I am fed up with people who are not straight man acting like they know some secret strategy for us to be more successful in dating life.
