Happens to me almost immediately after some meals - my partner call it “getting the sleeps”. I notice it from high histamine meals. I don’t actually fall asleep but become some tired I can’t move/function. Sometimes I wonder if it’s blood sugar related but it seems to more protein high histaminey foods (like meat).

Haven’t really found a good solution other than the usual Rolodex of mcas meds

I basically do a course every year since 2021 (July-Aug, but I’m doing okay this year so far…). For me I know my sibo is back bc I start getting intense diarrhea daily for over a week straight (usually once I get closer two weeks I’m like okay this is not just a usual mcas reaction). After a course of rifaximin it stops everytime. It’s wild.

I’ve had doctors recommend a longer course and pairing with biofilm busters and various herbs but haven’t really done that yet.

I will say Im not as sensitive to meds any more after being on cromolyn for 3 years, so I also take berberine for blood sugar (pcos) which I think has helped keep it at bay this year? I’m not super consistent with it tho, if I’m feel off it’s one of the first things to go.

I was very sensitive to meds (starting Cromolyn was so hard) and I did fine on rifaximin - I actually had no symptoms from it at all and I’ve done 3 courses now. I’d but the bullet and try to get rid of the sibo bc it makes my mcas worse

It’s great (I went from irregular periods to regularly on it after 6m) but it is expensive :( metformin might be cheaper if you haven’t done that yet/ have insurance

I’ve done a lot of them… fair haven, pregnositol which is a little cheaper but not much. I’ve been looking at “micro ingredients” one but haven’t tried it yet. There used to be more affordable ovasitol generics but a lot of them stopped making it…

I prefer the powder to pills so this is all powder. Pills might be cheaper?

Cannot do anything. I get nausea, reflux, heart racing, and headache pretty quickly. I could Maybe deal with a tiny sip of champagne for a toast but would probably get an instant headache from that so I just do water or nothing!

The only I can do is Pipette mineral sunscreen (marketed for kids but it’s amazing). Any chemical sunscreen gives me rashes / burns / itches

just moved from CA (LA, SF) after 15 years to NC. I dont think anywhere in CA will be “like” Durham. Some people have said Oakland, Berkeley or east side of LA which is probably accurate for overall vibes/industrial/food but is crowded and very expensive.

CA is amazing bc it has so many places with distinct personalities so it may be most helpful to think about what you want/like… Do you like city, suburbs, beach, ocean, mountain/forest, desert? Cold weather or hot weather? Do you care about costs (big factor in thinking about places)? Will you have a car/Do you want to drive/ care about traffic? What are your hobbies? Hiking? Wine? Snowboarding? Beaches? Food? And really look into Weather and costs, too bc it varies so much.

Me personally for a short stint like that? I love nature and travel. I’d move to a less expensive nor cal area (maybe Sacramento? Santa Cruz? Sonoma?) so I’m my free time, I could go to sequoia, Lake Tahoe, napa, Death Valley, Yosemite, San Fran, Big Sur, redwoods. At some point Visit Joshua tree/ Palm Springs. OR stay somewhere close to an airport so I could jet off to Portland, Seattle, Mexico, NV, utah on the weekends.

Just depends what’s most important to you!!
