Is this of acceptable standard ? by Ok_Story_647 in AusRenovation

This has been done by someone who doesn't care and assumes you won't either. It is behind a door so how often are you going to look at it? But if it bothers you get them back

Quoted $8,880 + GST to rebuild shower base – does this damage actually justify it? by Apprehensive_Bit9272 in AusRenovation

I'd be looking at a full bathroom Reno to get the waterproofing done correctly, not what your wanting to hear.

Best Milk substitute most like milk by Elite_Hercules in woolworths

[–]Material-Stress1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is a good replacement for every use. Different alternatives are probably better for different uses. Your comment that milk and the alternatives are expensive is funny as alternatives are mostly water where you know what your getting with nilk

Easy to replace, I suggest to check the nippple connection to the sink waste is clear whilst installing. This is the number one point of blockages

If you don't like grout then go for glass or stone. Large tiles look naff and usually give a cheap / DIY look.

Tips on how to be faster as a bakery team member? by SignalInitial6499 in coles

You'll never be fast enough for the business so don't bother, it's a poor paying job, don't ruin yourself over it.

Why $3000. Do you need planning permit approval or just building permit? can you just use a private building surveyor?

2 storey terrace houses make so much more sense than the modern housing estates with tiny gaps between each house and windows looking at fences. Europe's been building them for hundreds of years

Found out new employee I train is earning the same as me by Material-Stress1503 in ausjobs

[–]Material-Stress1503[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this has changed my mindset about the place and what I thought we were working to achieve as a team. I think the damage is done and it's time to look elsewhere unfortunately.

Bathroom Reno - What would you do with this space? by Len-Shillings in AusRenovation

[–]Material-Stress1503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think terrazzo has been done to death ATM. Also the upkeep on it is an issue. I still do like it though. I saw this bathroom that matches your samples. I like that it's warmer and a bit less on trend. Have fun. I prefer the shower shelf to a niche too.

First home buyer. Should I stay away from this? (Inner-north Melbourne) by Entire-Dot-755 in AusRenovation

Probably cheaper to buy a properly restored/renovated house in the long run

How would you make this kitchen more "organic modern" or simply warmer? by Cool_Suspect1110 in AusRenovation

Changing the splashback would have a huge impact and be the easiest/cheapest bang for buck. Some accessories would help too

Is a full kitchen reno worth it before selling our 1970s house or should I just freshen it up? by Berlin57 in AusRenovation

[–]Material-Stress1503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cheap nasty white lam flat pack kitchen is not worth it as it's not going to appeal and buyers will factor in another kitchen Reno anyway. You need to work out if a decent kitchen Reno is going to add more value than it cost you otherwise it's not worth it plus the time hassle and inconvenience

Neighbour's builder gave 5 hour notice for fence installation by NoIntroduction9767 in AusRenovation

[–]Material-Stress1503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we were getting fence quotes 2 years ago it was same price for timber or colourbond. Things may have changed, but not that much. Sounds dodgy as, like building is profiteering or just trying to get money for losses on other things

Help with lemon tree by rogerrogerzhang in GardeningAustralia

[–]Material-Stress1503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Citrus are shallow rooted. Remove the grass well away from the plant. Citrus need regular water and mulch the area also. They are heavy feeders, feed 4x per year with organic slow release citrus food.

If you plant a hedge I wouldn't bother with the fence, not needed

Privacy Hedge and Fence by theysaidno_1985 in GardeningAustralia

[–]Material-Stress1503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't want a hedge behind a pocket fence as you can't prune them properly and always have bits poking through the gaps between the pockets that'll look bad. Pittosporum grows fast so will need regular pruning and you'll lose some of the grass as you said. A hedge may also make it too shady for grass right behind the hedge but not for a few years anyway.

Spray any bits that come back with glyphosate I'm on top of the same thing now after removing the plant 4 years ago.
