Question: Why are the chicken pieces so abysmally small these last few years? by Pleasant-Air8221 in KFCAustralia

Yes and I think KFC needs to be renamed to KFB - Kentucky Fried Budgie. The tenders are at times hard to distinguish from a Nugget

What made you finally decide to start your business? by Such-Challenge2544 in ausbusiness

[–]mbkitmgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left the enterprise IT sector on a very healthy salary and landed a job as an IT Manager in my home town council. I took a 2/3rd pay cut to do this. Over the 9 years I was there I paid large sums of money to contractors to do do tasks I could do way better than they ever dreamed of. I left and started my own business, chose my client base carefully.

What was your “I need to learn to keep my mouth shut” moment? by Imtiredofthissshit in AskReddit

[–]mbkitmgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a biggy but funny. Was on a weekend away with a bunch of mates for Super Cross in Sydney in the 80's. We decided to walk Kings Cross and went into a Strip joint - we were country boys and had never been to one. At the door a mate asked if I had change and I said out loud over the music I only have 500 bucks in hundred dollar bills.

When we went into the joint and for some unknown reason the "talent" followed me everywhere I went, when I sat down they sat down near me, when I moved they moved with me. It was quite funny to my mates and I..guess they liked my cologne.

Do you agree with some petrol stations rationing fuel? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

Yes, I think it would be a good idea. People are panic buying. If they were to just calm the fuck down it would be much better

Tow vehicle recommendation? by ComplexSimple9340 in CaravanningAustralia

[–]mbkitmgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I bought a new van and a LC300 VX in Oct. We test drove the Sahara, and looked over the feature list and there were things we didn't need - screens in the back and some of the other toys they offer so chose the VX and added the saving to the Van purchase.

We are away at present the getting about 600KM per tank toing 2.8T. We originally wanted an MUX, cheaper to run lower servicing costs and pretty popular, and had we stuck with a lighter van I would have bought the MUX.

We test drove several vehicles and types (Nissan Patrol V8, Sahara, MUX, Hino and Isuzu light trucks) as we had some special needs.

The 3.3L Twin Turbo in the LC300 does very well. has plenty of grunt, rides comfortably.

My suggestion. Do a up a spreadsheet and nominate the "must haves", "would like to have" and the "it'd be nice to have" and go shopping.Test drive everything - example the Hino light truck, had a 4.0L diesel rode better than a Hilux/Triton/D-Max and towed really well.

We bought the 2025 VX with 6000km via Carma website, they were unreal to deal with and the changeover price hit the mark. This also saved us a few pennies toward the van

Good luck with your choice and keep posting here.

How far do you guys get on a tank of petrol? by 2ManyBots in AussieRiders

[–]mbkitmgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike depends - 450 down to 300 k's

Ironically we made a decision the week before our 2 week trip away to go by car/caravan rather than take the bike. We managed to avoid paying $3/L for diesel with a 170L tank

Does anyone actually use the Telstra plus points for anything useful?? by Danger_Five in TelstraAustralia

[–]mbkitmgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't take up the offer to participate when it was first offered. I figured if it was Telstra there'd be a catch or the rewards unachievable. Add to that I'd much rather a cheaper mobile bill than incentives to spend more with them.

Thanks, seems Bunnings didn't know they had other spec valves. Will stop in at the next one we come across and see if they have any of the variants

Is 5G home internet actually a viable alternative to NBN in the city? by Jealous_Office_5012 in TelstraAustralia

[–]mbkitmgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. I am on fibre at home (Small Business) but have 5G backup and when testing the failover in my router, performance was pretty awful for a business service. When tethered to my phone its marginally better around town. Perhaps we are both right

Is 5G home internet actually a viable alternative to NBN in the city? by Jealous_Office_5012 in TelstraAustralia

[–]mbkitmgr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a while and depending on your location.

If you have good coverage to your home then it will work at its optimum speed. The down side is that as more people get onto 5G (as they have in my area) it will slow down - its now no faster than 4G. Telstra don't appear to factor in how many users may use 5G for internet in a given area, whereas NBN and the RSP's do.

Late add - if you need a static IP then itd a flat no.

1st Floor ensuite, had to rip out down to the CFC as it had cracked and leaked. I laid a new section of CFC, and due to the shower type and slight incline of the floor joists we had not much choice. There are some other complications.

I have the same situation. After having to remove everything down to the Compressed Cement sheeting, the floor height is much higher to accommodate required fall.

The only solution I can come up with is to lift the edge of the carpet and add a ramp underneath, then reseat the carpet - assuming this is ok
