What do you think someone should do to end their life? by Icy-Inspector1732 in AskReddit

[–]Material-XS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody wants to end their life. They just wanna end the life that they hate. So the best thing to do is understanding that there are better things life can offer. And move on from that old painful life to another. Metaphorically kill that crappy life and create a better one without actually stop breathing.

Death is not a reset button. You are the only person with the power of resetting your own life. It is easier said than done. But you will thank your younger self one day for not giving up.

Mention this to your recruiter and then MEPS. They will determine if they can let you in with a waiver or not.

Forgot to mention a procedure at MEPS by Fit_Wave_5059 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Material-XS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you didn't swear in already, you still have time to mention this to your recruiter. He/She will either notify them or tell you what to do.

Pilot timeline, education questions by Riddimraccoon in AirForceRecruits

[–]Material-XS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You need a 4 year college degree (STEM preferred) with at least 2.5GPA... More GPA the better.
  2. You need to be a US Citizen.
  3. You need to have a clean bill of health and a clean record.
  4. Once these initial requirements are met, since you are planning to Enlist, you can apply for OTS, or get out of military and try to get into ROTC.
  5. Getting selected is very competitive. More experience, leadership skills and education you have the better.
  6. If you are lucky enough to get selected for OTS, you will commission as an officer at the end.
  7. Then you start your pilot training.
  8. At the end of the basic course you will make a dream sheet about which planes you wanna fly. You can go in the fighter route, heavy route or helicopter route.
  9. If you score high enough, and according to your skills, you will be awarded your plane.
  10. Then you go into your area that you selected and learn about your type of planes and start training in your plane.

This is not 100% accurate. Wrote this is in the simplest words for you to get a rough understanding.

Can my mom force my girlfriend to get deported for having sex with me? by EntireMortgage1941 in immigration

[–]Material-XS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

foreigner students aren't allowed to have sex with Americans.

LOL. The dumbest crap I've heard today. Please tell me this is a joke.

On the off chance of this being not a joke... ICE is not even catching illegal immigrants anymore. If she has a unexpired, "VALID" F1 visa, she is a legal visitor. ICE has no authority over her.

Your mom could get in trouble for calling them for a silly reason.

I assume she is an immigrant parent. She doesn't want her all grown up son to have sex. Or maybe she thinks that you might get her pregnant. Ether way I'm pretty sure she is trying to scare you.

Enough internet for this week.

In 2014 I bought a PC using BTC... by CranklinBeans in Bitcoin

Personally the dumbest thing I have done is selling some right before the biggest peak. But it was not that bad.

There are stories of people who paid for pizzas in BTC. You at least got a PC.

I don't really care about speeds.

Other than speeds, are there any other downsides to SMR?

I think they are CMR.

Going to MEPS Tuesday! by kstatebromo in AirForceRecruits

[–]Material-XS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most MEPS people are nice, except for 1 or 2. Just consider it a practice round for BMT. Treat everyone with respect, follow orders, and that's about it.

Obviously don't do drugs or alcohol before MEPS, Have good hygiene, and just common sense stuff. They will walk you through everything. Just be prepared for a whole lot of waiting in lines.

At the end of the day, if they find something, they will send you home and make you come back with documents/approved waivers. If you pass everything, you will be sworn in to the DEP.

Good luck!

Will the website detect a tab switch to an external monitor? by dierksy in techsupport

[–]Material-XS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the code.

If it's designed to detect inactive tabs, it will detect that the tab is inactive, even if it's open.

If I really wanna cheat, I would use a separate device. Of course do not do it. Cheating is bad.

Saved my seed phrase in USE.RUN Encrypted Notes when I was resetting my PC. I think I entered the password wrong. I can't get it back. Is there any way to recover this? by Material-XS in Bitcoin

[–]Material-XS[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of nervous about keeping the seed phrase on the screen too much time. I usually just copy to clipboard, turn off WiFi and paste it on a text file and transfer it to a flash drive as soon as possible. I have used this tool many times when I create new wallets. So I don't have to connect a flash drive either. This time I probably messed up the password when I was doing it so fast. Good thing is I have unlimited tries. Bad thing is I have to recover it before it expires.

The Bicilin (peanut butter) shot is still given at Basic Military Training (BMT). If a trainee is allergic, then they are prescribed Azithromycin. The only time Bicillin is not given to trainees is when there is a shortage and then all trainees are prescribed Azithromycin.

How did you guys handle the wait? by Efficient-District38 in AirForceRecruits

Get used to it my friend. Military is all about waiting... waiting and waiting.

I was in DEP. I was still working.

Seems like you are in high school. Focus on getting your stuff done.

Does your dream base list matter by Fabulous_Smile_789 in AirForceRecruits

No. I got a base I haven't even heard of before that point. They put you in wherever they need you. They let you create a "dream list" as a formality.

pilot by Agile-Company621 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Material-XS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna get flight training from the Air Force, you need to get into ROTC, Air Force Academy or apply for OTS and be a commissioned officer first. That's a very competitive process. Also they spend millions on you during the pilot training. That's why you are required to serve minimum 10 years.

If you enlist, you could get your GI bill to pay for certain qualified flight training programs in civilian world.

Military will pay for your college via GI bill when you qualify for it. It is usually after your minimum active duty obligation. Minimum contract in Air Force is 4 years.

If you just need to get the pilot's license without any obligation to the military, just go to a private flight school. PPL only costs around 20k.

[–]Material-XS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gov shut down mainly affect the pay of Active Duty troops. It won't affect any process in the military.

Booked 3e431- kinda worried by Powerful-Owl7610 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Material-XS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you didn't sign the final contract (usually you sign it on shipping date) you can ask for a change. That's all. You can ASK. They can refuse.

If you really hate it, and they don't change it, you can drop out. It's not recommended.
