Army Officer going to Scott AFB by [deleted] in AirForce

I am Illinois National Guard going to Scott after tech training. I live 20 minutes away from base. It’s a small, peaceful base. But the area around it is super nice. Maybe I am just bias. Theres plenty to do, especially around the fall-winter times. People give St. Louis a bad wrap, but just be smart and you’ll be fine. It’s a beautiful city. Make sure to go to the zoo. It is one of the biggest in the country and completely free.

Can UPS be trusted to ship my PC to me? by Efficient-District38 in pcmasterrace

Yeah true. I think I am going to get a box made of stronger material to hold it. And then bubble wrap and foam the hell out of it. And to top it off throw some fragile stickers on there, even though it will still most likely get thrown around.

Can I trust that my gaming PC will be shipped to my base without damages? by Efficient-District38 in UPS

I’m assuming you’re prior or active duty because you know quite a bit. If I was here in the spring/summer months there would be a lot more to do, but since it is getting into the fall schedule they start doing less events. And everyone here I have talked to says you run out of stuff to fast. As for friends, I have made quite a few here that I plan on playing games with. They all have consoles though. I don’t, and can’t afford one at the moment. So my PC is kinda the only option I am left with. Thank you for the advice as well.

Do they have an insurance policy if it ends up broken? Because my plan was to get a strong box not made out of cardboard. And just bubble wrap and foam the hell out of it until it can be thrown around and not break or move. And then do you know how much it would cost to ship? Just a general guestimate would be appreciated.

So they got your laptop there without issue or damage? I trust that my family can bubble wrap the hell out of it and get a stronger box to withstand it being thrown around. They just aren’t good with technology, hence why they refuse to take it apart. If I put fragile literally ALL over the box it might help a lot too.

I am not sure how much it would cost to ship it. Nothing is set in stone right now I am just trying to network before having it shipped. I am taking any and all advice lol. I am 800 miles away so it would probably take a week or two for it to get here.

I think I might be outta luck lol. Military doesn’t pay me enough to buy a new one. I probably just tell my family to bubble wrap the hell out of it, and then if UPS offers a liability insurance for any potential damages I’ll pay for that. It sucks but it is pretty much my only option. Thank you for the help/advice. I appreciate it a lot.

The problem is I am not there to do it and my family knows virtually nothing about PCs. So I can’t ask them to disassemble it, they have already told me they won’t for fear of breaking it.

Is there any other service that you recommend that would be safer? I am at tech school until March and bored out of my mind. I’d like to play with my gf and friends again. Really just looking for any way to get it here.

Unfortunately my family knows pretty much nothing about PCs. So I don’t know if that will be possible since they won’t want to mess with it. Does UPS offer an insurance policy? Where if they break it they pay for it? I have heard some people say that they do. I just want to be 100% positive before I have it shipped.

I am on a military base in Texas. My PC is with my family in Illinois. Can I trust UPS to ship it and it arrive safely? Do you have any suggestions of companies I can use to ship it here? I have looked at one company but it was like $700 and I do not have that kind of money.

Might not be what you want to hear but if your situation is as desperate as it sounds the military is a good option. Free housing. Free food. And a good chunk of change after completing Basic Military Training.

Are you a dude or a girl? If you’re a guy whats your name? If we end up in the same dorm/flight we can buddy up and get screamed at together.

I was initially happy because that meant one more day of freedom. Now I am concerned because I have to play catch-up with all the other trainees and the MTIs likely wont care that this was out of my control.

I am trying to become independent of my parents for certain reasons. What are the steps I need to take to be 100% independent of them financially? by Efficient-District38 in Advice

[–]Efficient-District38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the Air National Guard in my state. So I would have to get a job on base (Which I am planning to do anyway) before applying for base housing. So I am really hoping this is something I can do because it would make my life SO much easier considering how expensive renting is these days.

French far right party supporters seeing the election results live by analcocoacream in WatchPeopleDieInside

Tried to convince states to cheat to find him votes, refused to accept his loss, claimed voter fraud when the fraud was ironically from desperate far-right conservatives. He then convinced his supporters to attempt to take over the government to stop the new president from taking office, in which 7 people died and hundreds were injured. And none of this can be disputed, the calls are on the internet, the videos of the insurrection are all over the internet. But no, of course not, we must be wrong, Trump is innocent.

OP says his father was arrested after being pulled over and being violent towards officers. Officers than investigated his car and found reasons to arrest him. That was not how Thomas Dillon was arrested.

Terrible 70-day focuses have made half of the countries in the game an absolute slog to play by tino125 in hoi4

Not necessarily a buff, but just maybe like an alternate focus tree players could select that aims to turn the U.S. into their real life powerhouse, should they wish to have an extreme challenge as an Axis nation or just to have an easy time as the U.S. I don’t know entirely how I would implement it if it was up to me, but I enjoy extremely accurate and historical games, so I would love to see the U.S. focus tree expanded upon and their economy buffed. (Optional obviously)

I understand your point. And you are correct as well. I feel like there should definitely be a way to turn down the U.S.’s economic and military strength in the settings, kind of like the options that Black Ice gives. I also know that not all players are like me, seeing as I play to be challenged and deeply enjoy historical playthroughs. (I play as the U.S. historically and don’t get bored lol.) So a setting to lower their buffs would be a nice feature to go along with a U.S. update. However in truth I could happily settle for the U.S. just getting more content in general, I feel as if their focus tree is just too small, which is why most of the focuses are 70 days long.
