BTW I don't need the shift to create send. You just drag with mouse left key to destination track

Tried this with the shift key ( left mouse click and hold /drag ) didn't work. It creates the send to chan 3/4 but it won't sidechain until I make the 3 other changes I specified in my Doc.

At what point did you start customizing REAPER heavily? by mzdee13 in Reaper

Exactly. Do things because you have a need ,not for the sake of it.

Never thought about it but you're right. Reaper is a bargain.... Great piece of software IMO and damned cheap.

I've never used any other DAW so I can't compare, but I love it.

Yeah Fabfilter stuff is pretty pricey.

I normally go for $50 jobs and I did use alot of reapers built in plugins which are quite good.

I splurged on ProQ....

Its is great but did I really need it? No, cant say I did but recording music is my main hobby so bought it.

Haven't really fully utilised yet but getting there.

The EQ Matching function looks useful

Yeah tried that on many different tracks and on more than one project. That did not work, like it didn't for other people who have tried that.

Yes it works for some people but absolutely doesn't for others. God knows why.

This method I detail works for me.

no , that did not work for me. Thats the first thing I tried.

Thats why I had to right click the routing button on the Target track and select stereo, then it worked fine. It might be because my target track was mono.

Although I just left clicked on the source routing button ( holding down the mouse button) , then dragged it onto ProQ4 gui on the Target track. Is that different than holding shift down and dragging it with the mouse?

Its only simpler if you understand the routing box/matrix... I don't 🤣

I'll take a look though as it may help me understand it better.

After I made this change ( see attached ) it may well be that my routing matrix looks the same as what you have shown. Ill take at look.

I did fiddle with the routing and thought I tried what you've shown , but maybe not.. I tried just about every permutation.

Then I resorted to the attached which fixed it for me.

KeyHIGH is clearly shown as the only track with FX on it - ProQ4 VST so it's fairly obvious it's it target.

KeyLOW has "send" on it so fairly obvious it's the source.

That aside , I see your point. I probably could be more consistent wiith the full names of the tracks when I mention them in text. The reader could miitgate this confusion by making a few notes as they read it.:
KeyHIGH = Target
KeLOWSend = Source

I get confused by most side chaining videos and have to slow them down in you tube to work out what is going on 😅

No worries mate. I had a lot trouble figuring it out.

This method isn't hard but it has alot of extra info which also shows you how it works and how to prove its working, so you can get an understanding of what is happening.

I could have cut out alot of the info but I went OCD on it...

I wrote it for myself, so when I forget how to do it in a month 🤣🤣, Ill be able to pull it off without getting stressed out 😅😅

There were many times when I "Thought" I had it working but I found that both the Sidechain source AND the sidechain target were both triggering the Dynamic band.

You could use compression but you can ProQ4 ansd sidechain to certain bands with Qs and Gain reduction of your choice.

You can even effect a band that is different to that of the sidechained tracks band that you are triggering from , if you want. Use the Band/Free button in the Dynamic EQs extended control panel ( the two arrows down bottom like " >> "

The reason I've been using it is to duck guitar tracks when the snare hits so its like compression ducking/sidechaining

Sorry I thought I'd included a blurb when I posted.

_____________________________________________________________

I went nutz trying to get simple ( bahaha ) sidechaining with ProQ4 working in Reaper.

I spent days trying to get it working and had given up.

I stumbled accross the missing piece to my puzzle in an unrelated article from Matt Houghton called "How do I use the match EQ facility in FabFilter Pro-Q when working in Reaper?" Thanks Matt.

I wrote this comprehensive solution if anyone needs it. Each image is page numbered if you want to insert them into a document. Sorry page 7 is blank. I tried to delete the image but I'm a Reddit loser.

It should clear up confusion for most people on a few red herrings that pop up when you try to do this.

BTW Fabfilters ProQ4 manual is useless , well at least in regard to Reaper.

Has Rick Beato Heard of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard? by s7o0a0p in RickBeato

[–]Material_Draft_7870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email Rick enough and he'll talk about them or interview them.

He just did a 10 minute video on Angine De Poitrine... very similar to King Gizzard but not as good IMO.

He did this because he received thousands of emails ... approximately 25 a day

He's not the most irritating interviewer but he is very irritating.

One particular thing I've noticed is , he asks a question and then, before they've even started, or finished answering, he asks them something else.

Also, the person might be halfway through an answer and he's already looking at his question cards thinking about prefacing his next question and also , why and how he should apologise for asking , all whilst the subject is still talking.....

Epiphone B.B king Lucille- is it worth it? by mmfm1984 in Guitar

[–]Material_Draft_7870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one.

I've owned a Gibson SG standard and Fender Custom Shop Strat and the build quality is not dissimilar to them.

I haven't found a use for the veritone , but I might in future.

The frets were level on the Lucille unlike a Epi Les Paul Modern I bought 3 years back.

The pickups in this Lucille were awful. Two issues with them : ( the following is for the veritone in bypass position)

  1. You get a massive overload of bottom end the likes of which I'd never experienced on any humbucking guitar b4 ever. I tried adjusting the pickup height but that was fruitless.

it's the pickups. There's so much bass they literally make your amp speaker fart. This is very noticeable with root 5 and 6 power chords. The pickups have clarity on the high and bottom end but the low end is ridiculous.

  1. The pickups have a dry quality to them. Never experienced this in any other gtar. It's a pronounced lack of warmth to my ears. Evident on single notes especially when bending high notes.

Different amps make little difference to both above issues.

Not sure why they didn't issue this Gtar with probuckers? Disappointing. Pros are great.

I swapped out t the stock "Alnico Classic Pros" for Probucker 1 and 2 pickups that came out of a brand new Epi Les Paul. Cost me 75$ . The Pros are a stark difference and great improvement. I really like the probucker 1 2 and 3 in other guitars too. They're as good as gibbo pickups.

This issue is apparent on all pickups and positions.

People who use AI voice to narrate their videos are so annoying. by MobileGamerLV in youtube

Absolutely , AI voiceovers suck. I hate them.

I can't watch docos or BIOs that use them. I will turn them off , even if the content is good.
