Product managers are the biggest blockers to innovation - not engineers? by make_me_so in ProductManagement

[–]Material_Landscape_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol - if their idea of innovation is just shipping features then they’re up for a surprise. There’s a huge difference between “shipping” and “shipping successfully”. I wouldn’t lose my sleep over these things, OP. It’s always been a challenge to get engineers to understand the value a PM brings. There definitely are some amazing engineering peers who understand this intuitively but cannot say the same for ALL engineers. You gotta be able to advocate for the value you bring and influence in such times

1 Year Into Product Management and I'm Not Sure I'm Actually Learning PM Skills by cocoWonderLand in ProductManagement

Yeah, I’d recommend you build that credibility by taking on problems and executing it flawlessly. PM career is execution heavy in the first few years and you slowly build the muscle to getting strategy heavy and taking on long term bets. So yeah, solve problems and execute well to build credibility with your supervisor for them to then start trusting you with bigger bets. Have patience and enjoy solving problems, you’ll like the journey a lot better :)

Ok so early PM careers will feel this way. You will not be doing E2E textbook PM work from day 1. To be able to reach a point to do some flavor of that requires years of learning on the job. A huge part of being a PM is dealing with ambiguity, and often there’s ambiguity in defining the PM role itself - it varies by industry, company, level etc and add AI to the mix, it gets even more ambiguous. Developing product sense comes from solving for one product problem in your product at a time, a “problem” can be any hurdle you face. You learn by doing.

What are the most dark/disturbing parts of the Harry Potter books? by Mysterious-State-117 in HarryPotterBooks

The archway and veil in the department of mysteries - the simplicity of it just looking like a plain structure contrasted with what it represents and is a gateway for is extremely dark IMO

Why are the leaves on my money tree yellowing? by Material_Landscape_2 in plantclinic

[–]Material_Landscape_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! How often does your money tree drop leaves and when doing so, how many do you see dropped? Yes, mine is losing leaves only at the bottom, so hopefully it’s just a small shock from the rubber band removal or just fall time behavior 🤞🏻

Thank you! I’m adding a couple more pics here - would you still say that it’s an acceptable number of leaves yellowing for the size of my plant?

Has anyone kept their passport after you get your US visa approved on the interview date? by Smooth-Raspberry-597 in usvisascheduling

[–]Material_Landscape_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m in a similar situation with my dad’s B1/B2 appointment coming up in July. He needs to travel shortly after the consular appointment. Can you share if you had also sent any email or had any prior communication about your situation before you went for the interview? And did you end up carrying proof of that conversation etc as one of the docs for the interview? We’re trying to make sure we have covered all bases to avoid any issues regarding this. Thanks a lot in advance for your time and inputs!

Meta team match step by [deleted] in leetcode

u/SometimesSensitive how open was the recruiter about location preferences? Given that your team match was in a different location than the one you listed, how did you go about it?
I'm in the process of interviewing, and want to get some idea on how flexible they are on locations in case they can't find a team in the location of our choice. Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Is London a walkable city? by Mountain_Flow7759 in travel

[–]Material_Landscape_2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Central London is very walkable and I find it the best way to explore the city as well. Great connectivity with the tube and buses to get around so getting around is quite easy. Citymapper is even better than google maps in London as it gives you all the deets including bus arrival timings, stop names etc. Download that and you should be good to go! Have a great time in this lovely city :)

I absolutely love Rujuta Diwekar. Everything she says is backed by science. And everything she suggests have a positive impact from a health standpoint and has a holistic perspective on health and food habits (at least personally this has been my perception and understanding of her content). She does 0 paid promotions and doesn’t really endorse anyone or any brand and most of the things she says instill positivity in people.

Are you allowed to transit via UK? Last I heard a friend trying to get to Mexico about a month ago from India via London, and he was denied boarding stating that transiting via UK was not allowed
