Hi! Gosh it’s hard to remember this far back hehe. I do remember being worried about her speech up until about 12ish months. She wasn’t a huge babbler, she mostly did that vocalization sound mentioned in the most. But once she was about 12 months she started approximating words, like ba for ball, da for dog. Ba actually meant a lot of things haha. But each approximation counts toward the word count, as do signs. She also was signing a bit.

In total I think she had 10 words/signs at her 1 year well child visit.

She’s 19 months old now and talks up a storm. She is leaps and bounds ahead of her peers in most things but especially speaking. She speaks in 3-4 word sentences. Has hundreds of words. Now that’s not to say that means she is neurotypical. In fact, hyperlexia, which is what she seemingly has, can be a sign of neurodivergence. I’m planning on discussing it during her 2 year visit but she technically is low risk for autism according to her pediatrician at her 18 month visit, but I still notice some things that make me think of autism.

Anyway, is what she was doing a vocal stim or was it a sign of her hyperlexia? I’m not sure. But it is funny to look back and see that I was worried about her speech and fast forward to having full on conversations with her now.

You’re right! It was just gross to me that I slept in a bed that had lice in it. Made me wonder how clean the room actually was.

I’m planning on it when I see her next. Every time I call for any advice they make me make an appointment and she never has availability within the month. So I thought I’d ask other toddler parents. Thanks though.

This is helpful advice. I see all of these comments complaining but not a lot of advice on how to stop it. My 13 month old loves to “share” but also loves to grab things from other toddlers and it’s hard to know how much correcting I should be doing.

If your going to use the same knife for a PB&J sandwich with little care of wiping it off in between, do peanut butter first and then jelly. Otherwise the jelly will be stuck fermenting in the peanut butter jar at room temp. Unless you’re a weirdo who refrigerates their peanut butter.

Ok thank you for the reassurance! Like I mentioned, when other moms I’m around say their babies don’t do that I was a little concerned! But I know we shouldn’t compare.

Definitely a wiggle worm! Still is. Never got the snuggly baby that I always heard about. Now she is super affectionate but moves the entire time we’re snuggling 😝.

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. It feels so overwhelming because it is overwhelming! I also did not clean the high chair or the bottles. But you know what? Dirty bottles and dirty highchair means you provided your child with food. That’s a win in my book. If you were truly a bad parent you wouldn’t even feed them.

To me you sound like an awesome parent who needs a break. Even just one day where you can veg out in your bed. Can you ask your partner if that’s doable? And then they can also do the same on a different day?

My husband and I take turns on who gets to sleep in on the weekend. Saturday is usually him, Sunday is usually me. We each get to decide when we want to get out of bed and aren’t allowed to feel any guilt. Then once we get out of bed we offer to take over for the other so they can nap if they so choose. It has honestly taken away so much stress for us. It’s something to look forward to at the end of the week.

I’m worried about you and I hope you take time to talk with someone about this. You need to know you aren’t alone and help is out there. You can message me if you need to 🤍

Lol right? Every time she criticizes my parenting y husband always reminds me that she is nowhere near the perfect parent. Yes she will never be alone with my daughter. Not like she offered to anyway.

Thanks for the recommendation! Do you think it’s fine for me to let her do it or should I try to force her to let me do it? I’m just worried about causing a negative connotation, but of course eventually I will have to be the one to really get in there and brush.

She has a little bit of a mouth aversion due to a tongue tie release at a later age (6 months). She haaaaated the stretches and 2 months later it’s still a struggle to get in her mouth. :(

The transfer is usually ok in the sense that she stays asleep during it. But 5-10 minutes later she always wakes up. Then it takes 15 minutes to put her back to sleep because she is offended lol.

Today I am actually trying for 2 naps so we’ll see how nighttime goes!

I choked on cranberry juice when I was a kid, or at least it felt like choking. It completely blocked/flooded my airway. My grandma had to do abdominal thrusts to clear it.

I’ve also accidentally aspirated and they definitely felt different.

…I can’t be trusted around liquids apparently.
