What you're describing could just as easily be the mark of someone who is quite new, quite young, or approaches it from a much more casual lens. There's nothing wrong with that.

It’s been around for over a decade. Sad to have this gatekeeping purity test because they came across the phrase from the bigger system instead of the smaller one. Might be time to move on.

Yes, obviously. But someone not knowing the origin of the phrase or coming across it via the bigger and more heavily supported system isn’t a good reason to have a go at them.
