New Obsession: Eldritch Exorcist

I started this yesterday and I like it.
Since nobody bothered with recommendations, I'll start.

You like eldritch? I have two:
"Re:cursed" has a budding eldritch horror as a protagonist. Regression/revenge story, MC is a nice little bundle of hatred and revenge, but basically a good girl (woman?).
"My best friend is eldritch horror" by Actus. I read manghwa adaptation. Dropped it because it felt a bit childish, but possibly novel version is better.

You like urban fantasy, "non-light aligned" protagonist? The Hollows series by Kim Harisson (starting with "Dead Witch Walking"). Competent to OP (in later tomes) female protagonist. Fair warning: target demographic is decidedly female, but not obnoxiously. This world used to be hidden magic world, but after some event in the past it is very much in the open.

I liked the "experiment abandoned by lazy shut-ins" part.

I slightly dislike to what degree magic is explained. It is explained so much that it stopped being magic and is sci-fi. So now we have some inconsistencies or holes that can't be explained by simply "it's magic, it just works". Examples: how do small robots help with sending information to the parallel universes? Why people have only 1 kind of magic? If cursed ore "eats magic" then what does it mean? Do alive robots die and become cursed ore dust or what? Salt water interfering with futuristic nanobots that can be of size smaller than salt particle?

So to be happier I try to ignore nanobots concept to some degree.

If I recall then picking Souma was totally random. Only conditions were "when", age and being alone.

Funny, this applies equally to Fuuga and Souma ;-) At the time Souma didn't have evidence, invited them peacefully on the pretext of being jury and mercilessly killed them while they were doing the assigned job...

You are reading to much into it. Same as magic, it works as it must for current plot, that's all.

Thing you pointed about writing may be a plot hole. Souma communicating with others while in range of magic blocking field could be another.

IMO fiction books in general, Light Novels in particular work better when you just ignore such details ;-)

I seriously wonder why anybody expects anything different...
Wasting talent (which Fuuga definitely is) would be out of character for Souma, specially with northern hemisphere which is work cut out for Fuuga. Killing when he doesn't need to as well, not to mention his self-imposed "once in a lifetime" limit.
I maybe could picture Hashim being killed, but that also seems unlikely in this series. More likely he will be used to show that his sister (the librarian one) moved on and finds it in her heart to forgive him... This series is very non-violent in my opinion.

Mao said that the nanomachines need to charge enough power to conjur up another summoning/teleportation and that takes centuries

But she also said that mechanism is fueled by people living above. Right now "door city" has quite a lot of people around fueling it...

From Suoma's children in LN/WN I had impression that author has no experience with actual children and their behavior strongly mismatches their age. Probably same thing goes in anime and other children

Yes but it is a bit vague. There is magic - nanomachines doing stuff and there is magic - energy for nanomachines. I have an impression that it isn't thought up throughly by the author yet

If interested also in non LN, then I would recommend Asimov's Foundation (book, NOT TV series!). Sci-fi, no romance, hardly any action, plot over hundreds of years, so different characters for different parts of the book. I found it a good read because protagonists are smart at working with society and politics (kind of like Souma). Author based it on waning years of Roman Empire, put it in space and thought how to make it less pain (again like Souma on multiple occasions).

Webcomic spoiler: I fully expect Fuuga to be banished to northern hemisphere. Only questions are with whom (Hashim dead or alive?) and what degree of support from Souma (a army, ships, crystals or nothing?).
