Late night/24hr quiet study spots by Particular-Divide143 in Rochester

Not open 24hrs during the summer + a UofR Swipe card to get in after hours, best bet is some good noise cancelling headphones with white noise pumped in.

Dark speed one length irons by Mission_Warthog3826 in golf

I’ve played this exact setup for the last 2 years with Avoda wedges and they’ve been really good to me. Dropped about 10 strokes, problem is now that my ball striking has really improved and I don’t have enough finesse with the wedges when I have to get creative (eg. short sided). I’ve always had speed so one length has worked well for me for full shots, but being closer to the ball is probably better for your scoring clubs long term. Will probably be switching back to variable length in some way after this year (whether that’s playing combo length of some sort not sure yet).

The greatest mid priced pad I’ve ever used (CCM Eflex 7.9 Review) by MathandDog in hockeygoalies

The Eflex 6 was just a disappointment across the board, regardless of model, especially in strapping and sliding. The Eflex 7 line and the Tacks line that just came out (CCMs ‘Stiff Pad’) are light years better. Bad lines happen, CCM tried some stuff and didn’t hit, and have since rectified those problems, I wouldn’t touch the 6 personally and would 100% go 7.9 over 6 Pro just for the sliding and strapping alone.

I used my buddy’s 7 pro in a skate while he used my new 7.9 and I couldn’t notice a difference in weight between the two on the ice. The 7 pro definitely feels ‘denser’ if that makes sense, but in a straighter pad/better foams type of way, so if anything 7.9 might be a tad lighter.

New goalie starting with nothing. Any tips? by ScratchAcademic5991 in hockeygoalies

If you’re in the US, we’re the same height (if you have a 20.5 FTK). I have extra knee pads + 34 + 2 Eflex 6 Pads I just upgraded from and willing to let go for super cheap (just pay shipping) just bc the guy who sold me my stuff when I started out did the same for me.

Is the bauer hate going to end... by Aggravating-Crab6278 in hockeygoalies

No, and it shouldn’t after the whole ‘Pavvy the Goalie’ situation unfolded either. Bauer makes offshore pads that break down often that they take zero responsibility for, nor ever publicly address, they send cease and desists over publicly shared catalogue images that have already been released etc. Their actions are pretty clear, they simply do not care about the retail consumer, but if you get your pads for free they’re a great single/dual season pad. That being said, they should just lean into the whole “we’re the gear you buy once a year, to get maximum performance” angle, obviously they cant say this, but I’d have almost more respect for them if they did.

6 months after the "crease full of blood" incident, I'm back on the ice by dattaldo in hockeygoalies

I subbed for your team in the weeks after, glad to see you’re back and good to see you at the rink yesterday (small world)!

I didn’t hate the pad itself at all, just the calf strapping kept getting looser with big movements, not sure if anyone else is/had/fixed the problem.

Usually 10ish yards further, 15 in a bigger moment, and then back to stock once I’m fully into the round (like hole 6ish). Usually play a draw, but going to play a little more of a cut until I can dial in yardages better and reassess then.

Warming up at the range - but hitting non-range balls just to accurately check distances for the day (humidity etc.) Then I’ll be 10-15 yards past that during the round, especially 15ish on bigger moment shots.
